Do you have a reluctant tooth brusher in the house?
Well brushing teeth just got techy!
Playbrush has been developed by a start-up company as a fun way to get over the problem of getting children to brush their teeth properly and we were sent one to review.
No matter how much supervision they have when brushing their teeth, we rarely make it to 2 minutes brush time – it just feels too long and they get restless and bored.
The set comes with a manual toothbrush, a silicone cap device, a sucker and a USB charger. Before your first use you need to charge the base which will then transforms the brush into a games controller using bluetooth technology to connect to your phone or tablet, which takes about half an hour.
There are currently four, free to download, games available – Utoothia, Utoothia Sky, Utoothia Magic and Utoothia Paint which enable you collect points for good brushing. The games are available for both Android and iOS and have been devised to promote good brushing with speed, different angles and directional movement to get to all the teeth. There are also motivational messages that pop up as you go, and a countdown timer to keep you brushing for the full 2 minutes.
You can add multiple profile users to each game and move the base unit onto each child’s toothbrush in turn so they all get a go to play the games without having to buy more than one playbrush.
There is a leaderboard which gives a competitive edge which the kids love. You also get a snapshot report at the end of the teeth brushing session to tell you which areas of the mouth you’ve cleaned properly, again, great for improving their dental hygiene.
You can also sign up for a progress report, to keep track of how your children is getting on.
The Playbrush has been developed with leading experts in the dental field, and has been featured in the Guardian and FT.
My only concern with it, is the fact that it requires technology in the bathroom, although Playbrush have thought about that and have supplied a handy waterproof see-through bag with suckers so you can attach your phone / tablet to the wall, mirror or window.
Playbrush currently have their Christmas sale on and you can purchase your very own for as little as £19.99.

well said. I’m so sad why my teeth are getting yellow. Then I read your article to get whitened teeth in some natural ways.
