Yale Security Made Simple Campaign

With independent statistics producer, the Office for National Statistics, recently revealing an 8% rise in the level of burglaries in 2017 compared to figures from the previous year, it’s now more important than ever that homeowners take on board the necessary precautions to keep their home safe.

Home security is very important to us and not only do we have an alarm system fitted on our house, we have also taken other security measures like outdoor security lighting, Philips Hue inside the home and internal camera’s.

Yale believes that security should be simple, which is why they have developed the ‘Security Made Simple’ campaign.

When it comes to our home security, it’s fair to say that most of us aren’t clued up on how much or how little we need to do to make sure our home is secure as it can be and this short video from Yale gives clear guidelines on how how you can take some simple steps to improve the security of your home.

This infographic also helps highlight some of the simple steps we can all take to keep our homes more secure, like not sharing belongings or when we are away on social media.

  1. Woah, 75% of burglars use social media to know when homes are empty? That is very scary. A lot of eye-opening info in that infographic – thanks so much for sharing.

  2. Some of those tips are very clever. We have smart light bulbs so I think if we were going away for a bit we’d make sure we had them on a timer so they came on every once in a while x

  3. Interesting to see that burglars use social media to see your items. I have always been aware that posting “off on holiday for three weeks” probably isn’t a wise thing to do, but had never thought about “showing off” electronics etc.
