Included in the box is the hub, a motion sensor, a door/window sensor and a remote fob. You also need to download the free Y-Cam app onto your smartphone which is available on iTunes and GooglePlay.
The motion and door / window sensors are battery powered and should last a year before needing replacements, working just like a traditional home alarm system which detects any motion, which means it can be triggered by pets as well as people. The motion and window/door sensors are wireless and come with sticky pads, making them easy to install, even for a technofobe like me.
You can connect up to 32 sensors and 8 fobs. Additional motion sensors cost £24.99; door/window sensors and fobs cost £19.99 each, so it is a bit disappointing to only get one in the box. As well as being able to fully arm the house, there’s a ‘home’ arming button which enables only the door/window sensors only.
I also love that I can arm and disarm the system with my Amazon Alexa too.
To get the best out of the service you also have to pay a monthly subscription fee to use the SIM, which costs £5.99 per month or £59.99 per year. This is called the Plus service and it gets you app alerts when using the SIM, but also text messages when the alarm is triggered.
The Y-Cam Protect is a good system but I think I prefer the option of linking it with the Evo system so I can check the camera’s too.

I think this is such a fantastic gadget, and something every home should have!
I understand that this is more security but my boss has one similar to spy on his dog at home whilst he’s at work and it’s honestly the best thing ever hahaha!
I use my pet cheetah as my home security,seeing him perched in the window pretty much assures my home’s safety.
The price for the Y-Cam seems pretty fair,a lot cheaper then some of the systems we have here in the States.

We don’t really bother much about security when we’re away. Maybe we should! I guess that’s because we live in a relatively safe area, with a private road and while we don’t really have neighbours beside us, we know and trust the ones who live in the same road as us 🙂
I am forever worried when I go away from my house that I will come back and it will have been broken into. I need some kind of security like this, and it’s a lot cheaper than I would expect x

For that little bit of extra security I think this is a great product at a reasonable price. I do think that the cost of the all the extra sensors could become quite expensive if you want one for every window. I only have a small terraced house but I would need an extra 11 just for the windows (nearly £220) so this would soon add up.

A friend of ours was burgled during the summer while they were on holiday and it has traumatised the poor children. This looks great for peace of mind
We are currently looking into reviewing our security arrangements – We’ve been very lucky so far that our alarm has been really effective and we have super alert neighbours but it is never too much to check that we are fully covered.
What a fab gadget! I’m a super anxious person, I hate going away from home – so i can imagine this would easy my anxiety massively.
