Valentine’s Day Gift Guide

Valentines

Did you know it is just 28 days until Valentines’ Day?

Valentine’s Day is held on 14th February, a day when it is traditional to send a card, often anonymously, to a person one is romantically involved with or attracted to.

Of course being married and parents, that tradition has long since past, however, we do get little gifts for each other, cook a nice meal (who wants to pay those inflated prices in a restaurant?) and attempt to have a child free evening, which has become more and more difficult as the kids morph into teenagers and start staying up later than we do.

But if you do celebrate more seriously than we do, what is the ideal gift for your partner?

For Him

Watches and jewellery are also a popular option and I would love to get my husband a new watch as his is battered beyond repair because of the job he does.

I would love to get him a designer watch, however I do not like the price-tag that comes with it, so have been looking at pre-owned watches which look as good as new, but are far more affordable.

If you have kids, some personalised may be more up your alley and I adore these personalised hand / foot print cuff links from Eternal Impressions, which are perfect if you have any special occasions coming up.

For something a bit different, book your other half an experience day. You could buy him a skydive, if you fancy pushing him out of a plane or maybe something more gentle like a spa day for both of you, a win/win in my book.

For Her

Afternoon Tea somewhere posh would be top of my wishlist, well anything where I get totally spoiled and don’t have to run around after small people would be wonderful.

Afternoon Tea

Again, jewellery is a really good option and following on from the personalised cuff link suggestion for him, you could get a hand-made silver message charm to put on a charm bracelet.

You cannot go wrong with a decent bunch of flowers. I am not talking about the last minute, half dead bunch from the local garage, but a well thought out bouquet of her favourites!

For Both

What about booking a weekend break. It doesn’t have to be abroad, just somewhere different and will be something to look forward to later in the year. If you book London you could even squeeze in a show!

We are lucky to maybe have a take out in peace with our two 🙂 but there is a lovely place by us somewhere to have afternoon tea complete with all the nice teacups and saucers that would be on my wish list too 🙂

Goodness yes, everybody loves a break away from the day to day and afternoon tea… well what’s not to like haha. Guys gifts like watched and aftershave are always popular as you say.

What great ideas for celebrating Valentine’s day. I am with you – a nice meal at home together and a bunch of flowers. It falls over half-term this year so even more difficult to do it without the kids mind.
