A new find – Pinecliff Play Sculptures

This half term we have been on a mission to find new places to take the kids to play. I have found that our local council website is an invaluable tool for listing all the local play areas and although we have ticked almost all of them off the list now we still had Pinecliff play sculptures to explore. Set at the opposite end of Canford Cliffs village to our favourite Treasure Island Play park the Pinecliff Play Sculptures offers a picturesque walk down to the beach at Branksome Chine.  We took the kids on their microscooters and watched them zoom …

Urban Reef

The Urban Guild Restaurant Review

I have been a fan of the restaurant Urban Reef for a very long time and no trip to the beach at Boscombe would be complete without popping in for a Hot Chocolate in winter, or a nice cool drink in summer and one of Kay the baker’s fabulous cakes. Robin Hood comes to Poole Lighthouse

Last month Isaac bounced out of school excited because he had met Ed Petrie from his favourite CBBC show All Over the Place.  He had been at school visiting the children and performing some excerpts from the pantomime Robin Hood which he was to be starring in at Poole Lighthouse and Isaac demanded we get tickets to see it. Treasure Island Playpark

A Hidden Gem

I pride myself on knowing all the good places to take the kids locally, but what’s this……… a play park I didn’t know about? It can’t be? Hubby saw an amazing park tagged on someone’s Facebook feed, and it was one neither of us had heard of or seen before. Doing some research I soon found it set in the heart of the multi-millionaires village of Canford Cliffs in Poole, so planned a visit to see what all the fuss was about. I give you the Treasure Island Play Park! With a Pirate theme running through the whole park the …

Is Pizza Express Family Friendly?

I’ve always thought Pizza Express was a grown up pizza restaurant. When I worked at an Investment Bank we used to have to go to our head office in London every now and then and the highlight of my visit was always visiting Pizza Express for lunch, which was below the offices in London Wall.  I don’t remember ever seeing children in there, although that may have been because of its position. I have never been to a Pizza Express locally, so when we were invited to visit our local one in Tower Park, I couldn’t say no. We booked …
