A Summer of Exploration and Adventure with Learning Resources

We love getting out and about and exploring our local environment and always take a ruck sack with some activities inside. We love the I-Spy range of books where you collect points outdoors every time you spot an animal or bird from the book. It is great for helping to identify them too and we are getting better at it with this fab pair of Kidnoculars Extreme, from Learning Resources. Discovering Nature with Learning Resources this summer

We love this time of year, as it is the perfect opportunity to get into the water and explore everything that our home county of Dorset has to offer. Marwell Zoo has 140 acres to explore, packed full of hundreds of endangered and charismatic animals from anteaters to white rhino, giraffes to penguins, zebra to snow leopards and many, many more. One of our favourite recent additions to the zoo is the African Wilderness, their largest exhibit to date, which is home to the White Rhino, Zebra, Scimitar-Horned Oryx and Ostrich, which all roam around together. But we were here to meet the Lemurs! If you are familiar with Marwell, the new Lemur …

Connect Your Kids To Nature – Even In The Middle Of Winter!

We take it for granted that connecting to nature is a good thing – but did you know there’s a wealth of research evidence to prove it? Over the last 30 years researchers have set up numerous experiments designed to find out whether being close to the natural world has real and measurable benefits, and the answer has been an overwhelming ‘yes’ One of the very first trials found that a group of postoperative hospital patients with a view of trees through their window required less pain medication and recovered faster than a control group who could only see more …
