Review: Nanit Baby Monitor

Back in October I headed to The Baby Show at Olympia with Abbey, where we got to see a whole plethora of pregnancy and baby products.

One item that really stayed with both of us was the Nanit Baby Monitor.

Unlike most baby monitors which are set up across the room from baby, the Nanit attaches to a stand and watches baby from above.

Nanit Monitor

There are three types of stand available, a free-standing one that can be moved, handy, one that attaches securely to the wall and a smaller travel stand.

The Nanit is not just your ordinary video baby monitor as it also comes with an app, available on App Store and Google Play, which offers personalised sleep tracking and coaching, making Nanit the only baby monitor that helps the whole family get more sleep.

Nanit App

The app cleverly pairs with the monitor, so you can see and hear your baby sleeping on your phone. Not only do you get a crystal clear overhead view of your baby as they sleep, but the app gives you two-way audio so you can communicate with baby as well as tracking and analysing your baby’s unique sleep patterns, and provide personal guidance on how to help them sleep better.

Lilah Nanit

You don’t have to have the app open at all times, you can still listen while using other apps or even when your screen is turned off with background audio, receiving real-time sound and motion notifications with adjustable sensitivity. Plus, it also allows you to monitor the temperature and humidity of the nursery to ensure they’re comfortable. If you want to have a constant view of baby, the Nanit can also be paired with an Amazon Echo Show.

Nanit and Lilah

One thing Abbey has added to her basket is the specialised Nanit breathing wear blanket, which works together with the Nanit Plus camera to track baby’s breathing motion in real-time, without any electronics or sensors on their body, to give her added peace of mind. These can be used over a baby grobag, or blankets.

Nanit Breathing Band

On the top of the Nanit Baby Monitor is the pairing button and a soft glow night light, which gradually dims and you can set up multiple users for your account through the app’s settings, so Dad can check in from work.

Now that Lilah is seven weeks old, it won’t be long until she moves from her moses basket into her cot and they will start using the sleep app to track her sleeping and to see if the advice helps establish a good sleep routine.

Nanit View

With data showing everything from how long they slept, to how many times you visited them, they are going to have the information they want, and some they didn’t even know they needed, right at their fingertips.

The Nanit Plus Camera is currently £299 and comes with a stand, one-year of Nanit Insights (sleep tracking and coaching) and 3 free pack of swaddles worth £50.

I shall share an update on how the monitor is working for us soon.

  1. Isn’t technology great, the thing we can do with apps now blows my mind. This sounds like such a great monitor, I’ll have to tell my pregnant friend about it.

  2. These look fantastic. The hardest part was trying to find somewhere to put our monitor, plus keeping all the wires away, it’s not as easy as it sounds. This looks like the perfect answer

  3. This looks amazing! I have never seen or heard of anything like this. Absolutely love that you can speak to your baby through it as I live in a 3 storey house so if my daughter is having a nap in her cot during the day and I am downstairs I can assure her that I am coming when she wakes up. Also love the dimming light feature, definitely something my little one would love, she is fascinated by lights.
