Review: A Little Wordy

Playing games used to be a little hit and miss in our house, until the kids discovered Exploding Kittens and their range of fun, easy to play games.

Now there is a new one to add to the family – A Little Wordy.

As the title suggests, this is a word game, where you have to guess your opponent’s secret word from their letter tiles and clues.

The game is aimed at two players aged 10 and over, although younger players can play and Sebby enjoyed playing the game too.

The game is perfect for taking on your travels, as everything you need is packed safely in a small box.

In the box:

  • 16 playing cards
  • 81 letter tiles
  • 40 berry tokens
  • 2 drawstring bags for vowels and consonants
  • 2 dry erase “secret word” player shields
  • 2 dry erase markers.

How to play:

You and your opponent select 11 letters from the drawstring bag and then use your shield to rearrange your letters to form a word, write it down and fold the card away, so your opponent does not know what it is.

You then use the clue cards to try and guess what that word is. These clue cards earn your opponents berries, so the skill is, not to let your opponent earn too many berry tokens as the one with the most, wins.

What we thought of the game

The game is simple to grasp and causes lots of giggles as you try and fail to guess the word. Our first game we tried to guess the words from the start, but we found that really doesn’t work, as there are far too many word combinations. It is much more fun using the clue cards to help guess the word.

Top Tip: Make sure you write your clue answers on your wipe clean notes and observations sheet, to help you guess the word.

A Little Wordy is available from all good toy shops and has an RRP of £14.99
