Project 365 2021: Week Twenty

What is going on with the weather?

Last year we were spoilt with wall to wall sunshine and warm temperatures. This year it feels more like Autumn with high winds and torrential rain.

On Monday, the planned Step 3 easements of lockdown went ahead, with indoor hospitality reopening and indoor entertainment resuming, including cinemas, museums, and children’s play areas.

The countdown is now on to 21st June, when Step 4 comes in with restrictions being relaxed even further. There is some doubt this will happen, thanks to a new strain of COVID, but it is a case of wait and see.

Here is our week:

Sunday 16th May

I felt OK after my COVID jab apart from a mild headache. We had plans to watch a film with popcorn, but Eliza ended up going out with her friends, so I just caught up on housework.

When Eliza got home we found a Damsel Fly on the windowsill and tried to encourage it back outside. Instead, it flew and landed on Eliza’s hand, so we took it outside to release it.

Monday 17th May

The weather forecast was rubbish (again), so when I picked Lilah up we headed straight out to make the most of the short burst of sunshine.

Today is the first day of indoor venues being open again, so the beach felt nice and quiet – it won’t be long until the tourists arrive.

Monday’s feel busy again now that Sebby has swimming and Isaac is back at Scouts, but it is nice for the kids to have thing to do.

Tuesday 18th May

It is a funny week for me work wise as I am covering a holiday and trying to fit my hours around my husband’s work. This means that I am working all week, but I do have the weekend off.

We arrived home from work to a very exciting delivery – Isaac’s new scooter. Normally, we wait for my husband to build them, but Isaac was so keen he managed it himself, with a little bit of help from me.

It is safe to say that he loves it.

Wednesday 19th May

A double work day for me, with pre-school in the morning and then straight to Tesco. I think the effects of the COVID vaccination have hit me as I am feeling exhausted.

When we got home, Eliza had a meet and greet with her tutor from Tuition Works, who is going to help her prepare for her grammar test in September.

Thursday 20th May

My husband is currently working in Yeovil and stopped on his way home to take a photo of the mill at Sturminster Newton.

The brief patch of blue sky sadly didn’t make it to us here in Bournemouth.

Friday 21st May

Another full day of work, but we came home to a treat – my husband bought some new fish for our fish tank.

Saturday 22nd May

With Kian being back at university, we have lost our help with childcare, so my husband and I feel like passing ships in the night, so it is nice to have a weekend off together.

With indoor attractions being open again, we headed to Littlehampton to see Callan and sheltered from the rain in the arcade – Isaac managed to win 1000 tickets on one of the machines.

We managed a short walk along the River Arun, but sadly the weather was against us.

Sunday 23rd May

Another day out, this time at Beaulieu, in the New Forest.

It is one of our favourite days out locally, as not only is it home to the National Motor Museum and some of our favourite Top Gear cars, but it has a brilliant park, some lovely lake side walks, a manor house and an abbey to explore.

We even managed to find some new areas to explore that we haven’t seen before.

We love Beaulieu too -although wasn’t great weather when we visited last. Hope you manage to get a bit more family time rather than all the work over half term
