Project 365 2021: Week Sixteen

It is back to school after the Easter break and I was ready for the kids to go back.

The COVID rates here are plateauing and restrictions are starting to ease all over the UK, with some football matches letting fans in now. News from abroad is worrying with infection surges in Europe and India recording the highest number of new infections recorded so far.

My Mum and step-dad have had both vaccines now, so hopefully we will be able to spent time with them soon.

Here is our week:

Sunday 18th April

The bluebells are out in our garden, so the kids decided they wanted to visit our local Bluebell wood as not only do you see the flowers, but they enjoy building dens and climbing trees.

We were probably a few days early, as there was not the thick carpet we usually see, but they were pretty nonetheless. What we did find is there is no longer access to the wood and you can only look from the edges, which was really disappointing and really cut short our visit.

The evening was all about watching the latest Line of Duty episode, which was a real cliffhanger…….cannot wait for this weeks.

Monday 19th April

With all the kids at school, I decided to take Lilah to Kingston Maurward Farm Park, thinking it would be quiet.

Kingston Maurward

I should have realised that some kids were on inset day and the overflow carpark was overflowing – luckily it is a big site, so we managed to stay away from the crowds.

As well as the farm animals, there is a lakeside walk and some beautifully manicured gardens to explore.

Kingston Maurward is the perfect place for a picnic, so on our next visit I shall take one with us, although there is a cafe, but there were queues outside for most of the day.

Tuesday 20th April

A day off for me. I caught up with some blogging and headed out for a walk.

It is a walk I have done many times, but the first time I noticed this old Bournemouth Tramways electric point just off the path.

Wednesday 21st April

Today was Eliza’s turn to have her hair cut after school.

She has asked for a pixie cut, but I managed to talk her out of it for now. I want to find a website where you can try out hairstyles to see if it suits you first.

Thursday 22nd April

I spent the day preparing for Tesco goes Pink weekend which supports Cancer Research UK but blowing up balloons and putting up bunting and posters around the store.

Friday 23rd April

After a break of 246 days, we have a teenager in the house again.

Isaac has a tendency to wear black at the moment, so we got him some clothes that are a bit brighter – thankfully he loves them!!

We have a bit of an obsession with Percy Pig in our house, so when I found out that M&S do Percy birthday cakes, that was our choice, along with some small Colin cakes.

Let me just say, that it tastes as good as it looks!!

Saturday 24th April

Officially we are still in lockdown, but some outdoor activities are allowed to take place, so we booked Isaac a paintball party for him, a couple of friends and his brothers.

Despite a nervous start, they all really enjoyed it and cannot wait to do it again.

Both Callan and Kian made sure the kids were constantly filled up with paintballs for all their matches – they definitely had a much fun as the younger ones!

  3. I’ve never been paint balling but my kids had many birthday parties on that theme and more recently their stag do’s. Love the Percy Cake, wonder if they do a gluten free one? Sadly I’ve missed the bluebells again in the UK

  4. Ahhh love a bluebell wood. We have also found that areas near us have been shut off recently. Even some with public footpaths down. I am not sure if its landowners using covid to their advantage. Happy birthday to Isaac how great that he got to go paintballing.

  6. Happy Birthday! Love the look of the Percy Pig cake. I don’t think Ethan will like it for his birthday next week though. The days out you do always look lovely. I had a black stage, well done for getting him to wear some colours #365
