Premier Inn unveils it’s new bed

As my 40th birthday fell on the day of Britmums I wanted my family with me so we could see some of the London sights the following day.

I looked into hotels that would fit us all in, but sadly when travelling with 6 of you nowhere affordable seems to have the room!

Premier Inn came to my rescue and offered us two family rooms in their London City Old Street Hotel to try out their fabulous new beds.

Premier Inn’s new bed is the stuff of dreams. With a thousand pocket springs supporting a super-comfortable pillow top mattress, this deluxe bed is crafted using modern materials and techniques for enhanced relaxation. It’s been rigorously tried and tested to match their exacting standards to ensure you get a great night’s sleep, guaranteed.

Over 1000 individual pocket springs sit independently within the mattress and move separately, providing extra support wherever and whenever it’s needed and each spring sits in its own pocket and creates a little bellow of air each time it moves – helping circulate air through the mattress, which in turn helps to regulate your body temperature and a thick wool comfort layer provides a luxurious, extra-cosy layer, while natural hollow fibres promote airflow and improve moisture management.

The kids couldn’t wait to put it to the test!

Eliza claimed the king size bed first, although I did manage to convince her to move into a smaller bed eventually.

I always find I don’t sleep well in a strange bed, but these were really comfortable and despite being in central London the rooms were nice and quiet.  The kids slept brilliantly and better than they do at home!

I have to admit I found the family rooms a little cramped which is unusual for Premier Inn, however, they were perfectly functional, clean and comfortable.

The air conditioning came in handy as it was a sweltering weekend and the TV, which had CBeebies, kept the kids amused for the short time we were in the room.  There was tea and coffee on hand for that all important early morning cuppa and the kids could choose between a bath or a shower.

I have to commend the staff too, who made our stay extra special.

We ate in the hotel for both breakfast and dinner and the staff were so helpful.  They made us all feel welcome and at ease and even shared a laugh and a joke with the children.  The food was delicious too!

One of the waiters noticed it was my birthday, I think the badges gave me away, and organised a very special rendition of Happy Birthday at the front of the hotel.  Of course I was surrounded by bloggers so now have the memory saved for posterity!

Thank you Premier Inn, we had a memorable stay.  The only thing that would have made it better is a room big enough for us all!

  1. I’m finding it really difficult to find family hotels especially now the children are getting older. It was easier when thye were in cots!

  2. We’ve stayed at Premier Inns a few times over the years, in fact, staying in one this summer at Heathrow. We’ve stayed there before a few years back, and hubs didn’t like the bed before – too soft for him! Hoping these new beds will give him a better nights sleep!
