Pins and Nettie – the brand new animated series for toddlers and pre-schoolers

Have you heard there is a brand new animated series starting on YouTube this Friday?

It’s called Pins and Nettie, and I think it will be perfect for your toddlers and pre-schoolers! It’s about two little hedgehogs called… you guessed it… Pins and Nettie, who love nothing more than to go out and explore the suburbs where they live. But right now, they cannot go exploring like they used to… because they must stay at home for a while. Sound familiar? Exactly!

The new series is designed to be relatable to young kids and their experiences of living through lockdown right now. The creators of the series, Daily Madness Productions, have said they will release a brand new episode of Pins and Nettie each week that families are practising social distancing as a way to tackle COVID-19 because they want to be able to reflect the real-time experiences of our little ones, and help to connect to them on their level and understanding of the crisis.

The series will ultimately aim to bring some moments of joy to families watching together, but it will also touch on some important points about feelings and emotions during this time. By recognising and acknowledging that what we are going through right now isn’t normal, and sometimes we might feel sad, or mad or even scared… and that’s okay.

All feelings are valid, but the important thing to remember is that we are together and we are safe.

The series will be completely free of charge and accessible on YouTube Kids, so that everyone can join in the fun. Make sure to subscribe to their channel so you won’t miss out on any new episodes.

  1. What a great idea for making this situation a bit more relatable and a little less tense for younger children! Plus, hedgehogs are so cute!

  2. What a brilliant idea! It is so hard to really make young children understand why we are having to do what we are doing, this would be really helpful.

I might have to share this with my school so they can link to it on the website. I think the longer this goes on for the harder it is for children to get it x

  3. This is a really good idea. It is hard for everyone to deal with the lockdown and very confusing for young children. I think my son would enjoy this, the hedgehogs seem like great little characters.

  4. This is such a great idea for a cartoon. Children don’t really understand why they can’t go out and play, or why they can’t meet their friends. However, they do relate so much to their favorite cartoon characters. It’s a great way to make them easily understand what is going on.

  5. awww this sounds so wonderful. It’s such an unsettling time, it’s really been amazing to see how much good has come out of it all – people creating things and sharing things and their time to help all of the children who are at home not school.
