Our Spring Swimming Update

Back in January, Isaac and Eliza took part in a club run swimming gala.

At 8 years old, Eliza isn’t allowed to compete outside the club so we are restricted to events run by Swim Bournemouth.

Isaac, on the other hand, is able to compete and had improved his time so much that he was able to compete in his first Level 3 meet this weekend.

We headed to Millfield School in Street, Somerset on Friday night, ready for an early start at the Yeovil Spring Fling on Saturday morning and it was safe to say that Isaac was nervous as it is by far the largest venue we have been to.

A bit like football, events are aimed at swimmers of different abilities and swimmers start at Level 4 meets and then move up to Level 3, the Level 2 and finally Level 1. It is nice to medal, but swimmers are aiming to race and achieve a PB (Personal Best Time).

The event was a lot of fun, cheering on team mates and even having a club dance off during each lunch break and I am proud to say that Isaac swam brilliantly.

January 2019 Times:

  • 50m Backstroke: 56:40
  • 50m Freestyle: 51.21
  • 50m Breaststroke: 1:08.08
  • 50m Fly: 1:10.77
  • 100m IM: 2:13.95

March 2019 Times:

  • 50m Backstroke: 55.83.6
  • 50m Freestyle: 46.57
  • 50m Breaststroke: 1:08.18
  • 50m Fly: 1:02.55
  • 100m IM: 2:02.93

Although the biggest improvement was his IM (Individual Medley) time, it is the freestyle we were most excited by as he finally broke the 50 second barrier, catching up with his team mates.

I am very proud of what Isaac has achieved and am slightly regretting offering him £1 for every second he improved on his times………roll on the next Gala in Dorchester at the end of April!!

Eliza has been swimming well since January and this week finally managed to earn the ‘Swimmer of the Day’ wrist band. We are hoping that she will be ready to move up to the next stage very soon as they are doing some moves this month.

Last, but not least, I cannot forget Sebastian. He swims with Bournemouth Swim School and has just achieved his Level 2 Certificate and badge and is moving up a group after Easter.

I think you will agree, it has been a good swimming month all round!!

  1. Awww your lovely children are doing so well with their swimming. Even Sebastian is following their Isaac and Elisa’s footsteps (or should I saw swim strokes?!). How cute!
