Micro Stand Up Paddle Board – Review

We are massive fans of Micro Scooters and whilst I was searching for the perfect scooter for Sebby’s birthday, I discovered something surprising.

Micro Scooters make and sell Inflatable Stand Up Paddle Boards (iSUPs).

My husband and I fell in love with the sport last year when we tried our hand at it with Fore Adventure in Studland, so much so I bought him one for his birthday.

The only problem was, the kids fell in love with it too, so it quickly became apparent that we needed another one.

The new Micro Inflatable Stand Up Paddleboard is perfect for both adults and children to use.

When buying an iSUP, it is important to know what you plan to use it for, your budget, how much weight it will need to carry and how much room you have in the car.

The wider, longer and thicker the board, the more volume and weight capacity it will have and beginner paddlers like us, need a board with more volume as well as thickness because this provides additional stability and can support more weight.

The Micro Inflatable Stand Up Paddle Board can carry weights of up to 120kg, so perfect for family use as you can have an adult and a child on board with no problem.

The thing that surprised us most about these boards is how light they are – just 5.2kg. I struggle to lift our other board, but can easily carry the Micro board on my own.

It’s unique design also means that the whole kit, once deflated, can be folded down into its carry bag, which is half the size of our other one.

Inside the bag is the iSUP, Fin, Pump-Bag, Nano-Pump, Carry-Belt & Leash and Repair-Kit. The paddles were sent separately.

I will admit that we do cheat and use an electric pump from Decathlon to inflate them, as we have three to do and it is a good work-out inflating them by hand – each one takes around 5 minutes.

We have used the boards on both the sea and the river and have found them very stable in both conditions.

Because they are so light, they are easy to manoeuvre, although we did find that we did have to work a bit harder to stop going off course in Studland, as it was a breezy day.

The boards are really easy to deflate and fold too. I push the air from the front and start to fold as it deflates, which helps push the air back out again.

If you are thinking about trying the sport, I highly recommend you take a paddle boarding lesson first, as they take you through the basics, show you how to paddle and turn and talk to you about safety.

I am looking forward to exploring farther afield once the kids are back at school.

The Micro Stand Up Paddle Boards are available directly from www.micro-scooters.co.uk and cost £799.95 each.

  5. A paddle boarding can be a great stress reliever due to the sedative nature of the water around you and the ability to make the action all about you. Not to mention, falling off the board can give you a serious adrenaline rush to push off any stressful feelings.
