The MADBlog Awards 2014

On Friday 19th September I attended my first ever MADBlogAwards and had the most amazing evening.

Sadly, as I had been sunning myself in Rhodes with Mark Warner, I missed out on the hair and make-up appointments at the venue, however I did have my hair done at my local salon before hand so didn’t look too shabby.  My outfit for the evening was the Milano Dress from Boden teamed with a pair of the most comfortable heels I have ever worn – the Lauren shoes from Hotter.  Even hubby mentioned that I scrubbed up well – cheeky devil!

Held at the fabulous Royal Garden Hotel Kensington, the evening began at 18.45 with a welcome glass of bubbly and the chance to mingle with some fabulous bloggers.  I only wish we had name badges as I only realised after the event who some were and would have loved to have had a chat, but I did get to talk to some ladies that I am proud to call friends.

Mingling over it was soon time to sit down to dinner which was delicious.  We started with a Sweet Pepper and Goat’s Cheese Tartlet served on an Orange Rocket Salad, followed by Roast Sirloin of Aberdeen Angus with Riojca Wine Jus, Blue Cheese Potato Cake and Honey Root Vegetables and finally Vanilla Cheesecake with a Lemon Coriander Consomme.  The wine was flowing but sadly I stuck to water as I was driving.

I was afraid that I would launch into the Get Well Soon theme tune when I met Dr Ranj, however I managed to hold it in as we had a brief chat as we posed for pictures.  He was a fabulous host, although he may have given Sally a few heart attacks as he wandered off script with some innuendo which isn’t suitable for my blog, never mind CBeebies!  I was very proud of my name check too!

There was a flashmob!

There were awards, sadly I didn’t win either of our categories, but it didn’t matter as I was honoured to just be there.  Some of my favourites won and I was also introduced to some brand new blogs too!

There was more dancing!

I have it on good authority that was much more merriment once the awards had finished and there were some very sore heads the next morning, but sadly I had to leave and make my way home once the awards had all been announced, but not before I had been given my goody bag.

The kids ate my Brioche loaf by Brioche Pasquier before I even got a look in the following morning and I have yet to look through all the other goodies!

Thanks Sally and the team for all their hard work – we had a fabulous time!!
