Lunii – My Fabulous Storyteller Review

My kids have always loved books.

We have read with them since they were babies, as reading can help help them learn sounds, recognise pictures and even social skills.

Their favourite stories, however, have always been the ones that improvise with their suggestions. Did you know that we have a Dragon called Twinkle who lives under our trampoline that blows rainbow smoke and bubbles?

Let me introduce you to Lunii, a screen-free storytelling device for children aged three and over.

Lunii

In the Box

  • Lunii
  • USB cable
  • Instruction book

Because the Lunii is aimed at young children, its design is simple and easy to use.

The dial on the side of the device switches Lunii on and off as well as controlling the volume and a socket for adding headphones if you want to use it during travel.

On the front of the device is a large yellow dial which you use to choose the different options in the story. There are also 3 smaller buttons:

  • Home (to start a new story),
  • Pause
  • OK

At the top of the device is the speaker.

How to use Lunii

Lunii needs an initial charge before its first use and a single charge will last around 10 hours.

Charging Lunii

Once it is charged, switch it on. A female voice will ask you a series of questions and you can choose different elements to build your own stories to listen to them straight away. An LED picture of each option also shows up on the front of Lunii.

Lunii comes with a starter pack preloaded on to the device which features 48 different stories and you can head to the Luniistore digital library, to download even more content. The Luniistore offers rich and varied audio content in 8 different languages and hundreds of additional stories, so your child will never be bored.

Lunii Eliza's Room

Luniistore is an app that an be downloaded to Mac, Windows and Linus. In the app you can add and remove stories, sort the available albums by age (3+, 5+, 7+, by album type (music, classic, theme, language and stories where the child becomes part of the story). Albums last from 15 minutes to 3 hours and contain between 6 and 48 stories each. Some stories you pay extra for, although there are also free options too.

Our Verdict

Although we do enjoy reading to the kids, the Lunii is a fantastic device which adds to their enjoyment of stories. I love that they can add their own touches to the story to make them different each time. It is strong and sturdy, so perfect for small hands and will withstand being dropped, plus small enough to take on your travels to help keep the kids entertained.

The Lunii: My Fabulous Storyteller is available direct from Lunii or from Amazon and has an RRP of £69.90

  1. I love it, I love it, I love it, and I started to regret that I already bought the Xmas gifts for my son. I love everything screen-free, and my son loves books and audiobooks. This is just perfect!
