Looking forward to the Easter break

It seems like half the country are on their Easter holidays already and I am slightly miffed that mine don’t break up from school until Thursday as I am itching to get outside and have some outdoor fun.

I am currently stalking the MET Office website daily to see what the weather will be doing over the bank holiday weekend – if only these weathermen had the psychic ability to tell us exactly what the weather would be doing far in advance.  It doesn’t look like we will be getting the heat wave they promised earlier this month, however, the weather looks as though it will be dry.

Sadly Hubby is working over the whole Bank Holiday weekend as its one of his company’s busiest periods, so he doesn’t feature in our plans, but one of the benefits of having a large family of tots and teens means that I have an extra pair of hands if I need them.

The plan is to visit our local National Trust properties for their Cadbury’s Eggsplorers Easter Egg Trail. We have three local ones, Studland Beach, Brownsea Island and Kingston Lacy, all of which are wonderful days out even without the promise of chocolate plus we are also venturing to Wembley to see Justin and Friends: Mr Tumbles Circus.

Our favourite beach is Studland, with miles of unspoilt sandy beaches to explore, sand dunes to hide amongst, the sea to paddle in (if its warm enough) and even old World War II tank traps to play around.

Brownsea Island is a tiny island set in the middle of Poole harbour which is home to an array of spectacular animals.  On our last visit we shared a beach with a Peacock, came face to face with a wild deer and saw Red Squirrels racing through the trees.

Kingston Lacy is a huge period house filled with lots of treasures to see, but it’s the grounds we like to explore.  It has a stunning formal garden that is perfect for a picnic and woods filled with bluebells to admire with a couple of childrens play areas to add to the adventure.

I have promised Hubby I will cook him a special Easter Roast for when he gets home from work on Sunday as I am sure he will be shattered after looking after all those customers who will be spending the weekend doing DIY chores.
