Lego City Heli Crane Review

LEGO CITY is the largest and longest running brand for the LEGO group and is the quintessential LEGO building experience, bringing everyday heroes and scenes to life.

In 2014, LEGO CITY continues to deliver novelty and excitement to its loyal and growing fan base, extending its polar universe into the polar regions, with the brand new Arctic theme.

We were sent the Arctic Helicrane to review and as with most LEGO toys it is a hit.  In fact Isaac is flying it around the room as I type.

Fly to assist the explorer with his husky sled in the LEGO CITY Helicrane.  Head out into the wild with the Arctic explorer on a husky sled equipped with a camera, light and radar screen.  Scan the huge ice block for hidden crystals frozen inside and then contact base camp with the walkie-talkie to call in the awesome Helicrane.  Hover above icy terrain and use the winch to lift up the mysterious block of ice before reporting back to camp.

Includes Arctic explorer and pilot minifigures with assorted accessories including a husky sled, camera, radar screen, crate and four huskies.

Lego City Helicrane

The set was built by Kian (13) and Isaac (6) and it was wonderful to see them working together.  LEGO appeals to both ages and there was silence for about half an hour as they concentrated on building this set.

The helicopter blades spin and the winch also works which means this is a toy that can actually be played with once it has been built instead of put on display to gather dust.

We rate this set 10/10

  1. Our house is awash with Lego and my husband enjoys assembling it as much as the children. I just wish they didn’t take the sets apart and then sulk when they can’t find the correct piece to put it back together!

  2. That looks complicated! We aren’t quite at lego stage yet, Stoll at duplo, but no doubt before long I will be standing on various bits of Lego on the floor!

  3. Oh my word there is a whole world of lego we are yet to explore! The heli crane sounds brilliant, POD would most likely love it. Should probably get a more girly set – providing its not pink!

  4. My son is just starting to get interested in Lego, and at three and a half, I hope this continues! I used to love Lego when I was younger, and could spend hours following the instructions and creating! This looks like a great set!

  5. We are such big lego fans in this house that I know mine would love this. They are so brilliant at coming out with new sets and I Totally agree about it bringing together the different ages.
