Keeping the House as Neat and Tidy as Possible

When you live alone, keeping your home clean and tidy is pretty simple. You just maintain neat and tidy habits and pick up and clean up after yourself as you go along. When you live with a partner, it can be pretty simple too – as long as they pull their weight as well. But as soon as you bring kids and pets into the equation, tidying your home can quickly begin to feel like a relentless task that takes up all of your time and effort. Kids are likely to spill things, leave things out and cause a general mess. Pets might knock things over, trudge mud through your home and have accidents. So, what can you do to battle the inevitable and keep your home as neat and tidy as possible in spite of children and animals’ actions? Here are some tips that can help you along the way!

Invest In a Good Vacuum

If you have carpets in your home, a vacuum cleaner will quickly become an absolute essential. This will help you to pick up bits and pieces that fall on the carpet, keeping the whole thing nice and clean. Whether that’s crumbs from dinner, glitter from an arts and crafts project or anything else. All you need to do is run the vacuum around as soon as a mess appears, or as a matter of routine once each day. It shouldn’t take long but will make all the difference. Look out for good quality vacuums and, if you have pets that shed, you may want to look into specialist pet vacuum cleaners that can pull up stubborn hairs from the carpet. If you want to make life even easier for yourself, you can even get automated vacuum cleaners like roborock. This will guide itself around your rooms while you get on with other tasks!

Check Out Different Storage Solutions

Kids tend to have a lot of belongings. Whether that’s practical items like plenty of clothes, or more fun items, like toys. You’re going to need to make sure that you have sufficient storage to tuck all of these things away while they’re not in use. Otherwise, your home will quickly become cluttered and can even become a safety hazard, as scattered items on the floor can quickly become trip hazards. Some storage solutions to consider include:

  • A toy box or chest – first up on the list is a toy box or toy chest. This is going to be an absolute essential as your little ones’ toy collection builds up. A toy box provides a space where they can clear away all of their toys when they’re done playing with them. No more slipping on mini cars or stepping on Lego bricks!
  • A bookshelf – if your kid likes stories and reading, they may have plenty of books. So, why not invest in a low level kids bookshelf. This allows them to put their books away in a space that they can reach, without tempting them to climb larger and taller bookshelves to reach spare spaces on the shelves.

Of course, keeping your home clean, neat and tidy when you have kids is going to take much more effort and many more steps than these alone. But they should help you to get off to the best start possible!
