JoJo Bow Maker – Review

JoJo Bow Maker

Like many girls in primary school, Eliza loves JoJo Bows.

I tried resisting it for a while, but when every child at school is wearing one it becomes inevitable that we would give in at some point.

We started with the smaller 8cm JoJo Bows which suit Eliza’s fine hair perfectly and she keeps them all stored on her Hair Helper next to her bed and carefully selects which ones she wants to wear each day.

The Hair Helper

Over the half term holidays we were given the chance to make a bow the JoJo way with the Bow Maker Set.

There are enough accessories in this cool crafts set to create 4 JoJo Bows, with pink, green, multicoloured and blue ribbons, sparkles, glue and the all important hair clips.

The JoJo Bow Maker is easy to set up and we were soon ready to follow the instructions to make our first bow.

It was from here we struggled. The set is aimed at girls age 5+ but I was doing this with Eliza (6) and her friends aged 9 and 11 and we really struggled to follow the instructions.

I searched YouTube for an official video to follow and there was none and other video reviews didn’t show up how to do it either and just showed people struggling or with the finished article.

Finally, after several failed attempts we figured out how to thread the ribbon in the correct way (you need to tuck it under, not over) and we were ready to complete our bows.

Once you’ve finished, add the unique JoJo Siwa charms for that finishing touch to your creations.

The bows are not quite as neatly finished as the real thing, but all three girls were very proud of their unique creations.

If you buy this kit for Christmas, be prepared to help as it is a little tricky to master, but once you have it figured out you can buy more ribbon and keep making as many bows as you like.

I am an ardent crafter and tried to do this with my 5 year old granddaughter. She got bored, I got frustrated and even looking on line instructions were not clear at all! Has anyone discovered what the two pink oblong pieces are for? Not an item I would recommend for any age.

Love this idea, you could make so many lovely hair bows to match their outfits. My girls school has banned them though!!

  3. These bows are all the rage, aren’t they? Really good bit of kit – helping to make one! Thanks for sharing!

  4. My daughters were gong on about this I think they saw an advert on tv. It looks like fun for little ones to make their own bows.

I like you have tried to resist but failed miserably 🙂 I love the idea of making your own though – my eldest daughter would just love this!

I think my lo would love this when she gets a bit bigger!

Why buy a bow when you can make one and wear it! What a lovely thing for a young girl.

I saw JoJo on This Morning recently, but before that I hadn’t heard of her (how old does that make me sound?!). I can see why she’d be popular with children and it’s fun when they can get involved in one of JoJo’s trademarks…her bows 🙂

Lillie would love this, she has a couple of the Jojoba bows, I tried to resist too but then I remembered I had the Fergie bows when I was her age so I caved. Sadly they have been banned in my daughter’s school but she gets to wear them outside of school and loves all crafts so would have lots of fun creating her own.
