The Incredibles was Kian’s favourite Disney film growing up and I have fond memories of him running around ‘saving the day’ in his Mr Incredible costume when he was little.
It has been a long wait for the sequel, but this week we took the kids to see The Incredibles II along with our cuddly Jack Jack from Posh Paws.
It is safe to say that our favourite family of superheroes is back with a bang and we are launched straight into an action packed opening with the family fighting to protect the city against The Underminer, who is using a huge vacuum to suck up money from the bank.
We catch up with the family who are living under protection in a Motel, however funding has been cut and they will be on their own in 2 weeks until superhero fan Winston Deavor and the owner of DevTech, a telecommunications corporation. Winston and his sister Evelyn, the genius inventor behind DevTech technology, propose a publicity stunt to regain the public’s support and trust in Supers.
This time, it’s Helen, aka Elastigirl that takes centre stage as she is enlisted as the ‘safer option’ to bring “Supers” back into the open, whilst Bob, aka Mr Incredible, is left holding the baby.
In a scene facing many modern families, Helen wrestles with her guilt at leaving the family, whilst Bob faces his own challenges with a moody, love-sick teenager, maths homework and Jack Jack finding his own special powers to deal with.
There is plenty of action throughout the film and we especially loved Helen’s new back, the Elasticycle, but it was the slapstick brilliance of Jack-Jack’s erupting powers that really steals the show.
Some of the old favourites are back including Frozone and Edna Mode, who proves to be an unlikely but genius babysitter, whilst inventing the perfect super-suit babygro for Jack Jack as she cares for him.
I won’t spoil what happens, but lets just say that the family must pull together to save the day and this time Jack Jack is here with his 17 powers to help save the day!!
Thanks to Posh Paws, I have a cuddly Jack Jack toy to giveaway to one lucky reader.
