In a bid to move Eliza on from never ending episodes of Barbie and My Little Pony we have discovered Project Mc² on Netflix.
They’re the smartest girls in school and they’re also spies who use science and technology to catch the bad guys and now there is a range of toys that has arrived to encourage a love of science in little girls.
We have been sent the H2O Remote Control Car to review and just like in the NetflixTM original series, this cool ride is really powered by S.T.E.A.M. – Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Maths!
It is really easy to operate too, simply pop the hood to connect the engine. Add water to the tank with the petrol can provided to activate and run the car.
The car and remote control car do take an eye watering 11 x AA batteries between them, however the car is very cool as the headlights turn on, and real, cool steam comes out of the exhaust.
The water has two jobs in the car:
Firstly, adding it into your RC car turns it on by completing an electrical circuit and allowing electricity to flow from the battery to the motor.
Secondly, it creates the mist that looks like the car’s exhaust. The mist is made from millions of tiny water droplets. Splashing around a pool creates lots of large droplets, but if you could do this ultra-fast, you would form ultra-tiny water droplets. The same thing happens in your RC car. A small plate vibrates super-fast to make millions of tiny water droplets that form the car “exhaust.”
Eliza is at the age where she doesn’t really care about the science part, whereas Isaac has been asking lots of questions. What matters to her is that her Barbie size dolls fit perfectly inside so she can take them for a spin around the house.
The remote control is really easy to use and as the car is powered by just one central wheel you can make it do donuts. It very frustratingly does not drive in a straight line though so constantly crashing into furniture.
It sounds fun, although 11 batteries really does sound a lot! Glad Isaac is asking questions about it – that can only be a good thing!
LB would love this, we have all been playing with the boys RC cars today and she actually said “don’t they do girls ones?” it’s something I hadn’t really considered before.
We have this car and the kids love it! Their favourite part was definitely filling up the water tank!
Awesome! Love Mattel products. I’ve always been a huge fan of He-Man and She-Ra myself.
I’ve not heard of this before – sounds like such a fun thing to play my daughter would love it!
Fabulous remote controlled car for girls! I have a little boy, so we have things like a Lambo and a Toy Story car, and indeed, they are the hardest thing to actually steer.
I was dreaming about a car like this when I was a girl:P Today it looks like a perfect gift for my little niece!
Looks great, I cant wait till my littlest is a bit older to be able to use a remote control car! My eldest went through so many of them!
So excited by this! Love that there’s someone teaching kids but especially girls that science is cool!
Aww this is sweet. My son always had remote controlled cars when he was younger but never my daughter. This looks great fun.
This looks like such fun, my eldest would have loved something like this when she was younger x
oh wow! How cool it is! I would had love to have one of these as a child, and it’s pink!! 😀 x
Kara, your children always have the coolest toys! This is so cool – love how the water is used and I’m all about STEAM rather than STEM!
This is absolutely fabulous! I wish I had it when I was little, looks like so much fun.
This looks like so much fun, almost a shame it isn’t an actual mini car to sit and ride around in x
This looks fun and a great colour also. It’s my little girls birthday soon and think she would love this.
I would’ve loved to have had one of these as a kid! That’s so neat that it produces “exhaust” with water droplets. What an awesome gift. Thanks for sharing!
This would be a great toy for my niece.
Its really a good option that 11 battareis are included thats awesome to use.
