Glam Up Your Winter Wardrobe

Some people stick with dark clothing during the winter. Dark jackets on dark tops and dark jeans. Dark on dark on dark. Shapeless cardigans paired with jogging pants or loose pants. The cold months are no excuse for not dressing up and being your toasty best. Here are some fashion ideas for the winter to revive your wardrobe:

Trench coats

Bust out your trench coats as it is the season to be dashing again. Wear a dark trench coat over a light dress. Pair it with knee-high boots and a colorful scarf. A light-colored trench coat looks great in daytime. Pair it with a colorful dress inside. Wear the trench coat buttoned down, with a chunky belt to accentuate your curves. Wear a turtleneck top with skinny jeans or thick leggings and boots for a classy getup.

Prints

Summer is always associated with floral and sunny prints. Well, the winter season welcomes all prints, particularly those not normally found during the summer months. Play with vivid colors such as red and blues, or animal print. Just keep it to a minimum, as we don’t want you to look dated. Colors that pop brighten the wintry months, beneath dark jackets or as scarves to warm your neck.

Sweaters and Cardigans

It’s the season to wear your cardigan and loose sweaters. Some extra space inside will help your clothes trap some heat to keep you toasty during the winter. Pair your sweaters with dark skinny jeans and Ugg boots or some colorful sneaker. Keep your own sunshine by investing in a bright yellow sneaker sure to lighten your mood any cold day. It’s also the time of year to wear knitwear. Find one with crazy patterns or with bright colors.

Scarves

Scarves are God’s gift to mankind. When it’s cold, you wrap it around your neck and instantly it feels like summer. During summer, you can use it as headband, hair tie, or to jazz up your bag. They come in a million colors, designs, patterns, and textures. They can be chunky and bulky or smooth and satiny. They can be classy glam or cool nerd chic. For the winter, find one with colorful patterns, big prints, or fun prints. You can have a dozen of them to spice up your winter, without burning a hole in your pocket.

Leather

Any other time of the year, we shun leather. It is hell on earth when you wear it during summer, and it’s but a slight comfort during fall. However, come wintertime, leather jeans and leather jackets are once again all the rage. Leather pants give off that rock chic vibe while leather jackets look great on top of simple shirts and jeans or a light frock. Put on sterling silver name necklaces when wearing a dark top for the gleam of silver to pop up.

Jeans

Jeans is the most convenient and most versatile item of clothing in any weather. However, for the winter, stick to darker colors to absorb more heat and repel cold. Tight jeans are best tucked inside ankle-high or knee-high boots.
