Gift Ideas for a Sugar-Free Easter

Now that we are into the month of March, my attentions have turned towards Easter and cannot believe it is only 4 weeks away!

Like all kids, mine love nothing more than a visit from the Easter Bunny with some chocolate eggs but when you have friends and family buying them chocolate treats, and joining in with Easter egg hunts it can all get a bit much and the chocolate starts taking over the house.

A few years ago, Hubby and I agreed that instead of chocolate eggs, we would buy the kids a small gift instead and that has also become a tradition for our family in itself.

But what do you buy for the kids that is not a sugary treat?

Toys

Collectible toys seem to be all the rage in our house at the moment, with Hatchimals CollEGGtibles, Glimmies and Flush Force all on the kids radar and they are all great value toys that won’t break the piggy bank.

Hatchimals

Little ones especially love receiving toys, especially if they have a favourite TV show and Sebby especially keeps asking for PJ Masks and Duggee toys (I blame the Stick song for Hey Duggee).

Make a craft box

Worried that keeping the kids entertained over the Easter holidays is going to be a challenge?

Get a pretty box and fill it with craft supplies including, glitter, paint, stickers, colouring books, colouring pens and pencils etc. You could even include instructions on how to make their very own easter egg.

Treat them to a day out somewhere special

Lots of places have Easter themed events and one of our favourites is the National Trust. There are over 250 hunts to choose from across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, guaranteeing a fun-filled Easter for everyone.

Clothes

Clothing doesn’t sound like the most exciting gift, but it is often the thing the kids need the most. We are about to change seasons, not that the weather is playing ball at the moment, so why not buy them a t-shirt with their favourite character on it or a dressing up outfit.

Star Wars

New shows to watch on TV

March and April are notorious to be a bit up and down weather wise. You could invest in a Netflix gift card or subscription to give them access to hundreds of new shows and films including Bear Grylls Survival School or Voltron: Legendary Defender.

Movie Night

You could even jazz it up by presenting it in a box containing popcorn and a milkshake treat.

Bake a Cake

My kids love nothing more than baking. Why not try to make your own hot cross buns?

Don you pinny, make sure the dustpan and brush is in easy reach and let them loose in the kitchen – you might be pleasantly surprised by their creations!

Do you enjoy a chocolate overload at Easter or will you be going sugar-free this year?
