First School Shoes

I have to admit I hate shoe shopping with a passion, especially for school shoes!

I think it rubbed off on me from my mum as I had really awkward feet and she used to drag me round town trying to find ones that fit.

Now I have children of my own, I understand just how she feels and shopping for school shoes in the summer holidays is always a challenge as every other family is doing the same thing and it doesn’t matter what time of the day you arrive, that shoe shop is packed!

Clarks understand this and you can now book an appointment to have your childs feet measured and shoes fitted.  I have used this before and it worked well, but it wasn’t during the school holidays and there were no queues.  I booked my appointment for Monday morning at 10.15 for three children – Eliza, Isaac and Kian.

Clarks at Castlepoint was packed already!

I was greeted at the door by an assistant with a headset who asked if I had an appointment.  I confirmed I did and he set the wheels in motion……..by the time I had reached the children’s section, my shoe fitter was waiting for me.  I must admit I did get looks from some of the waiting parents for seeming to jump the queue, but it was worth it.

Clarks make shoe fitting fun for the kids with their new iPad system and Isaac insisted he went first, followed by Eliza and finally Kian.

I knew I had to buy Eliza her very first pair of school shoes, but I go the news every parents dreads – all the children had gone up at least one size in shoe!

Armed with their sizes, the assistant dashed off to see what he had in their respective sizes and came back laden down with boxes.  Thankfully, the first pair of shoes they tried on not only fit, but they liked them which made my job so much easier!

Clarks

Clarks are offering you the chance to win a lifetime’s supply of school shoes – For a chance to win, share a photo of your child on their first day at school in their very first pair of Clarks School shoes with Clarks using the hashtag #FirstSchoolShoes

I just have Eliza’s school jumper to buy now, she looks so grown up in her new uniform!

This year, Clarks have partnered with classic publishers Ladybird to create a bespoke memory book called ‘Let’s Start School’ which comes free with your child’s first school shoes. The book enables you and your child to document their excitement about starting school – and to record all the milestones reached over that first year in reception class.  We cannot wait to get started on it!

  1. As a child I hated being dragged into Clarks for my shoes, the woman who would measure my feet was also quite harsh with the little wooden board and would always stub my toe 🙁
