This year, however, we did it in style thanks to Ocean Florida who invited us to join them in their box and see the show.
Once through security we headed inside and from the off, the venue felt very different. Not only was the VIP area much quieter, but there were huge canvas pictures of bands and artists that have played the O2 all over the walls of the corridors and comfy sofa’s to relax in. It almost felt that you were walking into a friends lounge.
The box itself had a small kitchen area with drinks, an entertaining area and 15 seats for friends and family to enjoy the show. We were offered a drink and some popcorn and settled down to watch the show.
The show began with a Fit to Dance warm up, to get the audience on their feet with Disney On Ice dancers and special guests Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde from Zootroplis, on hand to put us through our paces.
Once we were sufficiently warmed up, it was time for Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy and Goofy to appear and introduce us to their passport to adventure.
The Disney On Ice dancers then appeared with an amazing tribute to traditional dances from all over the world, to the classic ‘It’s a Small World’ from their infamous ride before we were transported to the African Pridelands to meet Rafiki, Simba and Nala from the Lion King.
There was some fantastic ice dancing on display from Simba and Nala, but it had to be Timon and Pumbaa that really stole the show.
The next stop on our passport to adventure was London, complete with a Bobby on the beat and the pearly kings and queens. It was then from London to Neverland with Peter Pan and Wendy to meet up with TinkerBell and do battle the dastardly Captain Hook, his pirates and the Lost Boys.
There was a brilliant flying routine and the mirroring of Peter Pan and his shadow was on-point and truly spectacular but the biggest gasp was saved for Captain Hook and his magnificent Pirate Ship.
Of course, he got his comeuppance in the end, thanks to a giant inflatable crocodile.
It was then time for a break, where we were treated to a light meal. Eliza chose a burger and chips and Abbey had chicken goujons which came in a handy little lunch box and it was soon time for the second half.
We headed under the sea to join Ariel, her sisters, Flounder and Sebastian to sing along with their colourful friends.
Would Ursula manage to steal Ariel’s voice or would Prince Eric ‘kiss the girl’ in time to save her?
Our final visit of the night was to Arendelle for an extraordinary adventure with sisters Anna and Elsa, mountain man Kristoff and the huggable snowman Olaf.
We were treated to some of our favourite songs including; Let it Go, For the First Time in Forever, Love is an Open Door and In Summer along some stunning pyrotechnics as the story was re-told on the ice.
We had an amazing time at Disney On Ice and seeing the show from a box was a real treat. Thank you Ocean Florida for inviting us.
Look out for the new show; Disney On Ice: World of Enchantment, heading to arena’s from March 2018.
