Cra*Z*sand Deluxe Glitter Pony Playset Review

Cra*Z*Sand, from Character Options, is creative sand that you can mould and shape and Eliza was sent the Deluxe Glitter Pony Playset to review.

Cra*Z*Sand is described as an amazing modelling compound that ‘comes to life’ in kids’ hands and expands in contact with the air. It never dries out, is non toxic and anti-bacterial. You can mould it into different shapes or press it together with your hands and it will hold its shape.

With the Cra*Z*Sand Glitter Pony playset you can create a sparkling pony parade. The set contains sparkling white, pink and blue glitter sand, as well as 3 moulds, a play tray and a shaping tool.

It’s marketed as being mess free and I did find that the Cra*Z*Sand that fell on to the table and floor stayed reasonably clumped together and was easy to wipe back into the tray. Unlike regular sand, it is easy to hoover up off of carpet but my vacuum cleaner wouldn’t pick it up off our hard flooring for some reason and it did make the floor very slippery afterwards.

Despite being aimed at girls, Isaac and Sebastian were keen to give the set a go too. There are two pony moulds and a mould that can be used as a stand (or sandcastle as Sebby preferred).

The moulds came out brilliantly when laid flat on the tray, but try as we might we just could not get them to stand up either on the tray or on the stand, not that it bothered the kids as they were happy to mould them, smash them back up and start again.

My only grumble is that it doesn’t come with a lid for the tray, or any bags to store the sand in, so you will need a tupperware container to store the set in so it can be played with again.

Cra*Z*Sand Glitter Pony playset has an RRP of £19.99 and is available from all good toyshops.

It sounds like good fun – the kind of thing my kids would have enjoyed playing with, and great for trying out over the summer. Shame they don’t provide some form of storage though – that’s always useful.
