Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree

Bonfire night over it is now time to start thinking about Christmas and one of my favourite parts is decorating the Christmas tree with the kids.

For ten years we had an artificial one which is starting to look a little thread bare and sad but last year we finally bit the bullet and got a real one and I don’t think we will go back now. The smell alone makes me feel christmassy.

The question is how do you decorate yours?

  • Slave to a colour theme
  • New decorations every year
  • Minimalist
  • Handmade creations by you and the family
  • Let the kids loose with a box of mismatched lights and decorations

I have to admit that we are the latter and I may have to rearrange the decorations after the kids go to bed as none are above their head height.

This year I have some new decorations for the tree which I am very excited about – personalised glass baubles.

Personalise Baby’s First Christmas, your first year as a married couple or even just this years Christmas with a gorgeous glass bauble engraved either with your baby’s own hands and foot prints, your names and dates or whatever you choose.

These glass decorations come in three shapes; a circle, a bell or a heart. The decorations are flat using a quality thick piece of glass measuring 5mm in depth. The tiny hands and feet or Christmas message will be lit up beautifully with Christmas lights and maybe even too lovely to put away for next year!

Each Glass Decoration is presented in a black gift box, securely held by a foam pocket for protection and attached to a white translucent ribbon to fit with all Christmas themes.

If the thought of glass decorations fills you with dread, they also offer a personalised wooden decorations too where the hands / feet of your little one or a message is engraved onto a round or star-shaped decoration.

If you want hand and foot prints taken, an inkless print kit is sent to you for you to take your prints and return them to Eternal Impressions, which are really easy to use.  You can also decide then what message you want on the baubles.

I have known Sarah and her family since 2008 when I had Isaac’s hand and feet cast following his birth and thankfully they keep all their prints on record so I had these decorations made with the year of their birth, however, you can take prints at any age and they will shrink them down to size to fit on the decorations if that is a memory you want to keep.

I am really impressed with the quality of the decorations and cannot wait to display them on the tree, albeit up high where the kids cannot reach them as I know they will be coming out at Christmas for years to come.

The fabulous Eternal Impressions has offered my readers a fabulous BOGOF offer on their glass / wooden christmas decorations*, just enter: CHELSXMAS at the checkout to get the offer.

*Must be the same shape and hands/feet but can have a different inscription e.g To Mummy & Daddy or Grandma & Grandad.

Dislaimer: I was given four personalised Christmas decorations for the purpose of a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

  1. I do love the personal touch at Christmas. Our tree is a mix of personalised decorations, ones that have been in the family and ones the kids made – well our main tree I have lots. This is such a beautiful idea especially with hand or foot prints.

  2. We have lots of personal touches on our tree at Christmas and I do let the kids decorate it, I used to be fussy but I love it so much more when their creativity is at work. I love these ornaments, they would make a lovely keepsake to bring out every Christmas. I don’t have a real tree though, not with cats!

  3. That’s such a lovely idea! Each year, my children are allowed to choose and buy a new ornament each to go on the tree, then one day, when they leave I will make them take them with them! 😀

  4. We love decorating our Christmas Tree and have a fake one, but miss having real pine. Usually it’s really traditional using red and gold with glass and wooden ornaments 🙂 we’d love to switch to a white and silver one, maybe in a new house! These baubles look lovely!
