Children’s clothing predictions for 2015

What would your child’s wardrobe be without a Winnie the Pooh hoodie or a Minnie Mouse t-shirt? Kids love wearing branded clothes and with companies such as Lamaloli selling a wide range of garments that are stylish, comfortable and influenced by popular culture it’s easy to find items that are bang on trend – after all, kids are surprisingly fashion conscious.

Disney’s Frozen was hugely popular in 2014 with everything from Anna fancy dress outfits to Elsa the Snow Queen pyjamas selling like hot cakes, but what looks set to excite kids this year?

SpongeBob SquarePants
SpongeBob SquarePants and his friends have been entertaining little ones for many years with both the Nickelodeon series and The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie proving extremely popular. The fictional underwater city of Bikini Bottom became a household name and with SpongeBob and crew set to return to the big screen this year in a brand new film release, it seems likely a range of merchandise will follow – so keep your eyes peeled.

Minions
If you thought Despicable Me was pretty cool, don’t miss 2015’s spectacular spin-off/prequel – Minions. That’s right, those funny little yellow characters from the original cinematic production are set to have their very own movie in which a trio of rebellious minions set out to find the most despicable master alive in a bid to save the minion race from annihilation. It’s clever, it’s funny and it would be surprising if you couldn’t buy a Minion-themed t-shirt somewhere along the line.

Of course, Despicable Me attire is popular already, but the new movie release could see a new selection of clothes hit the shelves in the not too distant future, so it’s worth keeping a look out.

Shaun the Sheep
As if the stop-motion comedy animation, Wallace and Gromit, wasn’t inventive enough, you can now enjoy a movie all about one of the production’s best-loved characters – Shaun the Sheep. Sure there’s already been a TV series where Shaun was the protagonist but this time he’ll be appearing at a cinema near you. And as children love to wear clothes with recognisable characters/faces on it wouldn’t be surprising to see clothes take on a Shaun the Sheep theme.

Star Wars
You’ll have to wait a little while for the new Star Wars release, as it doesn’t hit our screens until December 2015 but that doesn’t mean to say there will be no build up. In anticipation for J.J. Abrams’ epic movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens, you could expect to see anything from Star Wars-theme toy figures to an influx of Star Wars attire. The saga will certainly continue and so will the love of anything to do with George Lucas’ creation.

Disney
No matter what the year, Disney-themed attire is always popular with both new and old movies inspiring all kinds of garments. While classics like Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and The Little Mermaid remain firm favourites, you might also see a range of new merchandise from 2015 releases such as Finding Dory, Cinderella, The Good Dinosaur, Jungle Cruise and Toy Story 4.

If your child spent 2014 singing Let it Go in a pair of Frozen pyjamas, you’ll know how popular culture can influence kid’s clothes. Film releases play an important part in fashion trends, so watch out for an influx of new designs.
