Brother Hand Held Label Printer

I have to admit that after years of using a computer I hate handwriting these days.

Writing cards, especially those of the Christmas variety is a job I leave to the last minute every year as I always end up having to write 8 names in them, although for those other than immediate family I did revert to “and kids” instead.

Worse than Christmas cards is labelling presents and the number of tags that have fallen off over the years is ridiculous.

This year we were sent a Brother Hand Held Label Printer to review which is ideal for labelling everything from leftovers in the freezer to files in the home office. They are also a great alternative for labelling Christmas presents when wrapped and also school books and folders.

The machine reminded me of the old name badge label printer at Tesco and was super simple to use. Simply switch on, type in the name you required and hit print. Out popped a label and just press the green button to cut the label off.

The backing tape of the label was easy to remove too, as there was a join in the middle of the label so a slight bend in it would bring it away for you to peel off.

The unit came with a sample white and black label cartridge which did all our Christmas labels, although does need replacing now and I have been eyeing up all the different colours that are available. It also requires 6 x AAA batteries which is worth bearing in mind if you want to start using straight away.

It may not be the most Christmassy way to label presents, although you can add some pre-loaded images to go alongside the name, it certainly worked for us this year and will be well used throughout the year too.

  1. I bought myself a label printer a few years ago and it’s like my best friend. Best thing I ever bought! I adore mine, nobody else is allowed to touch it, ha!
