Blue Girl Soprano Ukulele Review

Isaac has recently started learning the guitar at school and like any sibling, Eliza wants to try it too, but she is too young to start classes.

The team from the Jumping Flea Trading Company offered me a Ukulele to review and not one to disappoint we chose the Blue Girl Soprano Ukulele for Eliza.

Jumping Flea Ukuleles are made from tough and resilient ABS plastic meaning they can withstand slightly rougher play that comes with younger children. They have soft satin feel that is satisfying to hold and come with factory fitted with Aquila Supanylgut strings to ensure a lovely tone and easy tuning. I play the guitar myself so managed to tune this with no problem, although you can download an app on your phone to help.

The lovely thing about this instrument is that you can take it anywhere – to the beach, in the park, on a picnic, on the boat, even in the shower because it has the toughness and resilience that only high quality plastic can give, plus it can be screen printed so comes in some funky style options too.

They say that tone of a quality is just like a wooden Ukelele but I have to admit I can tell the difference, however, as a first instrument and one where Eliza is not really interested in learning chords it is perfect for strumming along with her brother. Isaac is more keen to learn and there are plenty of easy to find websites that have Ukulele chords for hundreds of songs including some of their favourite pop songs. I am looking forward to hearing an actual tune soon.

One tip: Put it out of reach at bedtime or you may get woken up at 6am the following morning with a musical rendition of Let it Go!

This is such a fab idea I like that its a real one that is suitable for little ones rather than a toy. I like that u can get different prints too.

  11. That is adorable and it is great that it is a proper instrument that can be played, rather than a toy. Sadly I have zero musical ability.

Love the print on this. N has a red wooden ukelele – it’s not my favourite instrument, but i’m hoping he might want to learn at school next year. My brother thinks it’s really hard to learn compared with a guitar which he taught himself. But ukeleles are surprisingly cheap even for a reasonable quality

  13. I do love the look of that ukelele. T is learning to play the cello, but I like this even just for the design 😉

Our house is noisy enough without adding this to the mix!! I do love the look of this though and it’s great to teach kids to play a musical instrument!

Haha I bet that was a nice alarm call!! This is a very pretty Ukelele, LB has ukelele lessons at school and has her own little pink one.

What a brilliant idea for a kid! Guitars can be a bit finnicky for small fingers so this is a brilliant stepping stone. The uke looks great too.

My friend once got me a flying V ukelele for my birthday. A brilliant present! 😀
