Barbie and the World’s First Ever Colour Changing Handbag

For the first time ever, state-of-the-art-colour-change technology will light up the UK as the team from Barbie unveil the hottest accessory this autumn, which has been selected by Hamley’s as one of their Top 10 Toys for Christmas 2014.

The Barbie & Me Colour-Change Glam Bag magically changes colour to match any outfit by simply holding the bag against any item of clothing and pressing the button to match over 100 different shades.

The bag also comes with lots of fab, clip-on Barbie accessories so that it can be personalised to suit any style statement.  There is even a mini matching bag for Barbie herself.

The bag is the perfect accessory for little fashionista’s aged between 3 and 7 years old and retails at £29.99.

But what did we make of it?

Firstly, it is a fab idea but I did wonder if it would work.

IT DOES!!!

I tried it on about ten different colours and the bag really does change colour to match its surroundings.  I know Eliza will love this feature, but I do have a problem with the bag.

There is no room inside the bag to store anything.  I even tried to put the clip on Barbie accessories inside the bag to store them safely and the bag wouldn’t shut, plus said accessories only attach loosely so any gentle knock to the bag and they fall off, which is hugely frustrating.

With this in mind, the bag is perfect for role play and dressing up, but is not functional as a bag and if you have young children at home too, be extra vigilant with the accessories as they are quite small and could end up in baby’s mouth!

  1. The bag looks like a good accessory for a doll but £29.99 for Barbie’s handbag is bit on the expensive side. Where was it made? Japan or China? But then I don’t have daughter so not sure if I am just being a bit of a miser.

  2. What a shame it doesn’t work as a bag! It looks like a great idea and I know D would be thrilled with it in a lot of respects but I’m pretty sure she’d be frustrated about not being able to store her ‘treasures’ in it. Good to know before we potentially fork out £30, thanks x

  3. Baya loved this – and it really does change colour to match your outfit! I wasn’t so impressed – I guess for dressing up it’s fine, but would be so much better if it could actually have anything inside it!
