Back to school and we need more stuff!

The kids have only been back to school a few days, but already the demands are coming in thick and fast.

The teen is starting his GCSE’s this year and has seen his work already start to ramp up.  He was lucky enough to visit France as part of his French GCSE last week, but that also meant he missed out on some important school work so he has to catch up already.

Apparently he needs a planner, new pens, pencil case, maths equipment as well as folders to keep all his work in.  There was me thinking it was all stored on memory sticks in this day and age!

Eliza had her first settling in session today, just for an hour, and she came home with her new uniform covered in paint.  She is filled with enthusiasm for school and I want to continue taking what she has learned at school and building on it at home but it don’t want it to cost the earth.

Having completed my Childcare course earlier this year, I am full of ideas about fun things to do with her once she gets home from school and have started a Crafting with Kids Pinterest Board to keep everything in one place.

I have been looking around for arts & crafts at discount prices and have found that The Works have an amazing selection at great prices and not only do they sell the goodies I need for Eliza, but Kian is covered too!

The top 5 things on my list are:

  • Glue Stick
  • Tissue Paper
  • Googly Eyes
  • Stiff Paper
  • Lollipop sticks

and this shopping list is growing by the minute as Isaac has his eye on loom bands, despite me trying to avoid them at all costs.  I don’t think I am going to manage to escape this phase am I?

Whilst we are on the subject of loom bands, can anyone tell me how do I have them all over the house when we don’t actually own any?

I am definitely bookmarking the site for Christmas as they have lots of bargains that will make great stocking fillers!

Where do you get your school / craft supplies from?

  1. I collect arts and crafts stuff from all over the place. Right now, many supermarkets have 70% off their back to school range, so I stock up on Pritt Sticks and such like. I keep an arts and crafts box and pull it out on rainy days. I haven’t tried The Works so will check them out, too!
