AD: The Christmas 2019 Gift Guide – Teenage Boy Edition

Buying Christmas seems to get more challenging as the kids get older.

As babies and young children, you know exactly what they know and love. In our case, Bob the Builder, Thomas the Tank Engine and Fireman Sam featured fairly heavily on Christmas lists for a few years.

Fast forward to their teenage years and it becomes a minefield, especially since the days of topping up their present list with DVD’s and CD’s is long gone.

Nowadays, the teen wish list (if you can get any sense of them) is all tech, games and gadgets, which can end up costing the earth.

Teenage Boy Christmas Gift Guide

For Tech Lovers

All of my boys love gaming, but it is Kian that is at university studying Games Design.

Super Fast Sidekick

Meet Tails, Sonic the Hedgehog’s super-furry, super-fast sidekick. He is designed by the wonderful team at Cable Guys who have an awesome job of bringing amazing characters to life-like creations. This adorable and colourful collectable is certain to look the part in any games room.

Tails

Not only does Tails hold smart phones and gaming controllers, he also charges them in super-fast speed. Tails comes with a 3m charging cable which is the optimum lead to get the best charge and power to all of your devices. Cable Guys Tails has an RRP of £19.99 and is available from Zavvi. Other designs, including Disney and Marvel are also available.

For Music Lovers

The best gift we have got our teens has to be the Amazon Echo or Echo Dot.

Echo Dot

Not only does have an alarm feature, but it plays their favourite music and can even add things to their shopping list for them. Just make sure it is not set up with your card details!!

Top Tip: Buy in the Black Friday sales or Amazon Prime Day for half price offers.

For Clothes Lovers

You cannot go wrong with buying clothes and I like to get something that really stands the test of time.

Gant do a lovely selection of good quality men’s shirts which will take your teenager from the pubs and clubs to family do’s to interviews or even those first tentative dates.

Gant Shirt

I always use Christmas as an excuse to top up their pants and socks drawer too.

For Gamers

I thought the kids would have grown out of their love of Pokemon years ago, but thanks to Pokemon Go it is still a much played game in this house.

Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield are out in time for Christmas and have already been asked for. Apparently they are researching the difference between the games before they choose. Both games contain both legendary and non-legendary Pokemon exclusive to each version and for the first time their will be different gym leaders in each edition too.

Pokemon Sword and Shield

These games are available on the Nintendo Switch consoles.

Or, how about the Guinness World Records Gamers edition book.

Guinness World Records

The Gamer’s 2020 edition features all of the most popular video game characters that Guinness readers know and love. The book also celebrates the best players, the most popular equipment, and the biggest in-game events. You will also be able to put yourself to the test, by tackling the specially designed Reader Challenges!

For Phone Addicts

As a mum of teen boys, there is one thing always in their hand – their smartphones!!!

I am often faced with, “Mum, my phone is nearly out of battery” moments quite frequently, so get them their own power bank.

Pokemon Power Bank

I have to admit that I really rate my Rav Power Bank from Amazon as it lasts for around 5 full phone charges.

For Star Wars Fans

Star Wars Chewbacca Arm Meta Merch Mug is a real Wookie Wonder!

Wookie Mug

Let the big-hearted and much-loved Star Wars character lend his good vibes to your next brew, for a truly heroic cuppa..

For Comic Book Fans

Teenagers like to have their own space and decorating their room with their favourite thing can help them relax, especially around stressful times such as exams.

Star Wars Print

We love this Star Wars Pop Art Rebellion Needs You canvas print from pantherprint.com, but there are plenty of other designs available.

For teens who like a challenge

GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS (GWR) is the global authority on record-breaking achievement and what better to inspire your teen to break a new world record, than to look at some of the most wacky records that have ever been broken.

  1. I definitely agree, older they get, harder to find something they will really like! I remember when my nephews were small, no matter what toy they’ve got they were happiest kids in the world. Now all I hear is how much they love Nintendo, Minecraft or Pokemon so thanks for those recommendations here!
