AD: Back to Hogwarts

Like many children, my kids adore the wizarding world of Harry Potter and today is a momentous day in the calendar.

The Hogwarts Express leaves Platform 93/4 at Kings Cross Station, London at precisely eleven o’clock in the morning, and arrives at Hogsmeade Station sometime after nightfall. Traditionally fans descend on Kings Cross Station, but thanks to COVID19, this year will see the first ever Back to Hogwarts livestream from 10.30 BST.

Last week we received a very exciting delivery of Harry Potter, Back to Hogwarts goodies.

Harry Potter

Eliza was especially excited by the Harry Potter lunchbox and drinks bottle from Asda and they have lots more fun Harry Potter themed back to school equipment on their website – all at reasonable prices. I laid claim to this fabulous Hufflepuff Shield logo backpack as that is my house.

Of course, Hogwarts is a school like no other and you need to make sure you have all the right equipment for your learning. The kids wore their official House robes from Rubies during a recent visit to Lacock Abbey, where they filmed some of the scenes from Hogwarts.

The other essential item you need when joining Hogwarts is your wand and Eliza has been busy practicing her ‘swish and flick’ with a Light Painting wand from wowstuff.com. Each wand features an ultra-bright LED tip, which is activated by a hidden button on the handle of the wand and the you use the free Light Painting App to film yourself to produce extraordinary images!

She has almost managed to paint her name and has mastered some of the easier spells.

Now, I know what you are thinking………every Hogwarts student also needs an owl.

Eliza Owl

I would love Hedwig (or any owl) as a pet, but that is just not a possibility, however, you could own you very own with the fabulous LEGO Hedwig the Owl Figure Collectible Display Model with Moving Wings.

Hedwig Owl

Once built, you can display Hedwig at home in all her snowy glory, carrying a Hogwarts letter, atop a sturdy base with nameplate in typical Harry Potter font. Turn the handle to witness the cleverly designed jointed wings flapping effortlessly, bringing Hedwig the owl to life.

Finally, recreate your favourite scenes with the authentic Harry Potter toy doll figures from Mattel.

Eliza Bedroom

The dolls are available as Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Draco Malfoy, Cho Chang and Hagrid and Eliza wants to collect them all as they are perfect for stimulating her imagination.
