We are on countdown to back to school!
The weather has been on our side this week, although next week is looking stormy so we have been busy tidying the garden, ready for the influx of pine needles.
Here is our week:
Monday 29th August
Bank Holiday and the weather is gorgeous, so we stay at home, knowing the traffic will be horrendous.
Last week, one of the springs on the trampoline snapped, so we took the decision to take it down. We can’t remember exactly how old it is, but it was bought pre-Isaac, so we have had at least 15 years out of it.
It actually came down really quickly, so we turned our attention to other equipment that had also seen better days.
It took two trips to the local tip, which was surprisingly quiet, to get rid of everything, but we have a tidy garden again. Now to decide if we get a new trampoline, or not.
Tuesday 30th August
We headed to Bristol to see Kian and make our final visit to Bristol Zoo, which closes forever on 3rd September.
We had a lovely day exploring, but were surprised to find out that only a handful of animals, including their famous gorilla’s, are going to their sister site – Wild Place Project. Most are going overseas to help conservation projects.
I did however, manage to make my first viral TikTok video whilst we were there – 480k views so far!
Wednesday 31st August
The kids all had their hair cut today, ready for going back to school.
Eliza had to have a few choppy layers cut in, as the pink wasn’t washing out of her hair this year.
Thursday 1st September
Isaac had an ingrown toenail removed on his right foot before the summer holiday’s and sadly the left one decided it wanted a piece of the action too. He was very brave and this time he let me take a picture of his T-Rex claws!!
I came home from work to find my husband stood on top of our storage box, trying to cut down some of the overhanging branches in the garden.
He has managed to get rid of some, but we are going to have to get a tree surgeon to remove the fir tree ones, as they are too high and too thick.
Friday 2nd September
Eliza’s first day at secondary school!
Luckily we saw her friend arrive at the same time as she did, so they happily chatted before heading into school to get set up, before the rest of the school starts back on Monday.
Saturday 3rd September
Living in Bournemouth, there is one time of year we really look forward to – Bournemouth Air Festival.
It is the perfect day out, as the kids get to play on the beach, watch their favourite aircraft and visit all the Military stands along the promenade.
They have displays during the day and into the evening too.
I always say I am going to hire a big lens for my camera and always forget until the last minute. I am pretty please with my effort for the Typhoon though – not easy to catch at 600mph!
We were all very impressed with Otto the helicopter and the amount of fireworks shooting out of it – not sure I would have wanted to be inside it though.
Sunday 4th September
Nanny bought the kids some toys at the air festival yesterday and they loved trying them out.
We have also sorted out all their uniform, ready for back to school tomorrow.
How was your week?
You have done well with the length of time that you’ve had your trampoline. You definately got your money’s worth.
It sounds like you had a lovely visit to Bristol Zoo and I remember having to cut my youngest girls hair a couple of years ago to get rid of the colour before she went back to school.
I hope Eliza has settled in well at her new school. x
How wonderful that many of the animals from Bristol Zoo will be sent abroad to help in conservation projects. That’s really great. It seems you’ve had exciting days recently. 🙂
Shame Bristol’s closing. I thoguht I’d heard it was going to a totally new site but maybe I’m getting confused with somewhere else! Hope Eliza’s first day went well. It feels like ours is so late compared to others starting already.
oh ouch to the ingrown toenail!
Hope first day of school went well.
Such a shame about the zoo closing.
I love a good airshow, we used to go to the Eastbourne one, but it’s been a long time. Ouch to the toe nail. Shame about the trampoline but you’ve had a good run with it. I don’t envy you having to cut that hedge/trees back. I didn’t realise Bristol Zoo was now closed.
Sounds like you’ve been busy in the garden. Lovely photo of the gorillas at Bristol Zoo, sounds like you had a lovely final day out there. Hope Eliza enjoyed her first day at secondary school and is settling in well and that back to school went well for Sebby and Isaac too. #project365
Little bit grossed out by the toe but Matt is currently dealing with a veruca. Hope the return to school went well for everyone #project365
