Review: Paper FX Dream Weaver Machine

Eliza is my queen of crafting and loves to make gifts for her friends, from woven bracelets to drawings to jewellery and paper crafts.

When we were offered the Paper FX Dream Weaver Machine, I knew she would love it.

The Paper FX Dream Weaver Machine lets you upcycle and transform scrap and decorative paper into all manner of things!

Paper FX lets families create beautiful accessories, gifts and decorations from old magazines, wrapping paper, posters, junk mail and more!

In the Box

  • Weaver Unit
  • Back Bar
  • Creaser
  • Tearer
  • Twizzle Sticks
  • Base maker
  • Cable Ties

How it works

Simply tear the sheets, crease them, weave them and make unique creations!

The basics are fairly easy, but we did find the instructions a little on the confusing side and our first creation was trial and error.

Once you have your first row of paper in place, you secure it with the middle bar to hold it in place. You then twist the wheel on the weaver unit, which lifts the paper in turn, so you can easily weave your paper into place.

You then lift the back bar and move the paper strip, up to the back bar to start creating your paper weave.

Base

Our first creation was a pot, which requires a base. For this, we had to wind paper strips around the base maker, until it was the right size.

The Paper FX Dream Weaver machine can be used with any type of paper, although I would recommend that you use craft paper or something that has a bit of stiffness and stability to it, although you can also use whatever you have around the house, magazines, old greetings cards etc.

Once Eliza got the hang of it, creations started to come together more quickly and she is currently making bunting with her name on for her bedroom.

Do be aware that you will need lots of extra glue (not included) to ensure they stay together, especially the more complicated makes.

From handbags to purses, wallets to belts, as well as mats, coasters and bunting and more, children can let their imaginations run wild with this crafty kit which is available from Amazon and Argos with an RRP of £19.99

  1. I remember having something a bit like this as a kid and it was brilliant. It’s too old for my son at the moment, but what a great way to spend a few hours with older kids.
