When my kids were little, they always used to look forward to the bedtime story on CBeebies and it was always more exciting when it was read by a celebrity, especially for the older ones who would know them from somewhere else.
There has been some brilliant celebrities in the reading corner in the past, including Tom Hardy, Tom Hiddleston and Reese Witherspoon, and it has been revealed that the Duchess of Cambridge will give the CBeebies Bedtime Story slot the royal treatment with an appearance to mark Children’s Mental Health Week.
The book the Duchess has chosen is the delightful story of The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark, by Jill Tomlinson, which follows the story of Plop, a baby owl, who is helped by others to grow in confidence and overcome his fears.
The Duchess’s reading will air at 6.50pm on 13 February, the first royal to read a CBeebies story.
