Halloween is almost upon us and the kids are now really interested in spooky films and games on the build up to the big day.
We were invited to review The Addams Family: Mansion Mayhem game.
The game is available on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch and is a 3D platform game, where you experience the kooky world of the Addams family, in an original story based on the hit animated movie.
Explore the hidden mysteries of the famous mansion in a 3D platform adventure and unlock special character abilities in 4 different locations.
Help Wednesday, Gomez, Morticia and Pugsley save the beloved Addams mansion in this horrifyingly hilarious 3D adventure with shared screen, up to 4-player local co-op. Players can test out the different character abilities to navigate the four unique spooky locations; Gomez’s ancient family Mazurka Saber is perfect for slicing and gliding, while Morticia’s fashionable and friendly Spider Sling can shoot webs, grapple, swing and pull objects. Pugsley’s hand-crafted bombs are a blast to roll around on and blow things up and Wednesday’s pet octopus Socrates is ready to blast off and hover using a powerful ink spray. Get ready for family game night to get terrifyingly exciting!
The game is split into four worlds; Dining Room World, Graveyard World, Music World and Laboratory World.
Aimed at gamers aged 7 and over, it is quite a basic platform game which has you jump up platforms, avoiding hazards, killing enemies and collecting doubloons. The animations are based on the original cartoon series, which are cute, but my kids have watched the more modern version.
The characters often feel really small on the big screen, so I do wonder if this would be better on the switch, rather than on a TV on the wall and where is the iconic Addams Family theme tune – they really missed a trick here!
I have to admit the game didn’t really grip Eliza as she found the levels too long, although she did enjoy playing the mini games.
In conclusion, the Addams Family: Mansion Mayhem is an OK family-friendly platform game for younger members of the family and those wanting to play game together and a good challenge to set the kids to complete for half term.
The game is available from all good retailers, with an RRP of £32.99
