I began the week self-isolating as my app pinged me. Thankfully it’s only for 4 days, which means I must have been in contact with someone with it around New Year’s Day. I know quite a few people are off with COVID or are also self isolating and numbers are escalating around us and fast.
Our numbers had been so low throughout 2020 that I had not been too worried about it, but now it’s getting too close to home. When we finish work now, our uniform goes straight in the wash. We did joke we were going to get a disinfectant shower in the porch.
Here is our week:
Sunday 10th January
The kids were bouncing off the walls as they don’t like being cooped up, so my husband and Kian took them for a walk on Canford Heath.
Eliza is my water baby and we joke she should have been born a mermaid as she will find water wherever she goes. She did misjudge our deep this puddle was though and came home with soggy socks.
My afternoon was spent watching Chelsea on the TV as they played their 3rd round FA Cup match against Morcambe. Thankfully we won 4-0.
We also finished binge watching Bridgerton, cannot wait for the next series.
Monday 11th January
I should have been working today and the kids in school, but as I am self-isolating I kept them home and did homeschooling instead.
Last week we had three zoom lessons per day, but school have changed it to just two and then set work to complete in the afternoon. I have to admit, the kids enjoy their zoom lessons, but are not so keen on the set work, making it a challenge to complete.
Tuesday 12th January
My last day of isolation – hooray.
I really admire the teachers and their patience with zoom lessons. Sebby’s class kept asking what they had to do and the teacher must have had to repeat her instructions about 20 times.
Wednesday 13th January
Back to work for me and a 6am start. I am usually work a late shift so getting up at 5am was a bit of a shock to the system but it was nice to get home whilst it was still light.
I didn’t take any pictures today, but did launch a giveaway for a colour-in tablecloth from Eggnogg.
Thursday 14th January
My “personal day” from Tesco, which is a day’s paid leave which was meant to be taken through the Christmas trading period. Sadly it was spent home schooling, but we did manage to get out for a walk.
Eliza wanted to cycle, so we took the longer route which goes along a country lane and past a farm where we saw lots of sheep waiting patiently by the gate – ever get the feeling you’re being watched?
A full loop of the Sang is around 3.5 miles and despite checking the weather forecast which said it was going to be dry, the heaven’s opened.
There is no shelter, so we did end up a little damp, but we were rewarded by a stunning rainbow.
On the walk back home, we saw the sheep again but this time being herded into a field by a couple of sheepdogs. It was an amazing site to watch and the kids were in awe as they watched the dogs work.

Friday 15th January
Another 6am start for me, but my husband was day off today, so he took the kids for a muddy walk on the heath.
Saturday 16th January
Work again and I ended up doing a longer shift as so many people are off sick, or isolating at the moment.
Kian looked after the kids and they went for a walk / cycle ride to the Sang again. It was Community Day for Machop on Pokemon Go and Sebby was over-the-moon to catch 7 shinies!!

My youngest prefers the independent work set from school over the Zoom lessons. The teachers are doign an amazing job though.

Looks like you have got out loads which is great! We were isolating due to having Covid up to Tuesday and was soooo long!!
I know so many people who are self isolating at the moment too. Glad the children still managed to get outdoors, that rainbow is amazing!

Oh wow, what a stunning rainbow picture. That’s definitely worth the walk. And that giant puddle is everything. I wish we had places like this near us to explore. Can’t wait till things get back to normal.

My two love puddles and Harry quite often ends up with soggy socks. Great that your isolation went quickly. We don’t get any live lessons so I feel your pain on getting them to complete work without it. The rainbow is stunning! Although sorry you had to get wet to capture it.

Wow that rainbow is stunning in all the photos, what a great capture. Glad you’re out of isolation now. In Dubai I’ve been into many a mall and had to walk through a sanitising station. Glad the kids are enjoying their zoom lessons, I can imagine it’s not a lot of fun for them having to do the actual work on their own though
