Lockdown learning can be fun, but also hugely frustrating when the kids don’t enjoy it.
Sebby loves maths and finds it relatively easy, whereas Eliza is really struggling with maths and particularly her times tables.
We were sent Tackling Tables from Learning Resources to review which is a fun way of helping kids to learn their times tables off-by-heart.
The set is divided into cards of three colours:
- Blue cards cover the 1, 2, 5 and 10 times tables
- Green cards cover the 3,4 and 8 times tables
- Red cards cover the 6, 7, 9, 11 and 12 times tables.
The cards are aimed at children aged 5 and over and you start with the blue cards first.
The idea of the game is “learn one and get one free”
You need to answer within 3 seconds to win a new card.
There are 3 ways to play the game – using multiplication or division.
For Example:
Cover up a number with your thumb or finger and ask one of the following:
What is 7 x 2?
What is 2 x 7?
What is 14 รท 2?
The game is designed to help students learn their times tables and corresponding division facts in a fun way and the kids have been having fun having quick fire rounds, with one reading out the question and them racing to shout out the correct answer.
It is definitely making learning times tables more fun!!
This sounds like a really fun way of helping kids with their times tables! Jack would definitely enjoy something like this.
Anything that makes learning times table fun has to be good. It’s not easy at first for kiddies to learn their tables, I’m sure my son would find this useful when he’s old enough.
These look like great cards to help children learn their times tables… making it fun rather than a chore! Sim
This looks an interesting game to play, a great way of learning and testing maths while still having some fun.
My daughter also struggles with her times tables, might have to get this for her!
This looks like such a great learning resource, my Daughter would have benefited from this when she was younger
Anything which can make learning times tables fun is a plus in my book. I just remember repeating them over and over when I was a kid to try and learn them and it was so boring x
this sounds like a really good way of helping children learn their tables. My nephew is learning at the moment
This is great for kids as learning times tables can be a bit dull, so at least this game makes it so much more fun x
I think this sounds like a fun way to encourage kids to learn their times tables ๐ I bet it will be helpful for home schooling.
What a fun way to learn the timetable, I wish I had seen this when my kids were learning theirs. They are a lot older now and know then by heart.
This sounds like a great way to support kids in learning their times tables and definitely more fun than it was when I was at school.
I remember trying to learn my tables in class and really struggling, so something like this would have helped me as a child x
Making learning g fun and turning it I to a game is the best way to learn. I used to get my kids loads of these sort of things.
