Review: Tackling Tables from Learning Resources

Lockdown learning can be fun, but also hugely frustrating when the kids don’t enjoy it.

Sebby loves maths and finds it relatively easy, whereas Eliza is really struggling with maths and particularly her times tables.

We were sent Tackling Tables from Learning Resources to review which is a fun way of helping kids to learn their times tables off-by-heart.

The set is divided into cards of three colours:

Coloured cards

  • Blue cards cover the 1, 2, 5 and 10 times tables
  • Green cards cover the 3,4 and 8 times tables
  • Red cards cover the 6, 7, 9, 11 and 12 times tables.

Card Tables

The cards are aimed at children aged 5 and over and you start with the blue cards first.

The idea of the game is “learn one and get one free”

You need to answer within 3 seconds to win a new card.

There are 3 ways to play the game – using multiplication or division.

For Example:

Card

Cover up a number with your thumb or finger and ask one of the following:

What is 7 x 2?

What is 2 x 7?

What is 14 รท 2?

The game is designed to help students learn their times tables and corresponding division facts in a fun way and the kids have been having fun having quick fire rounds, with one reading out the question and them racing to shout out the correct answer.

Maths game

It is definitely making learning times tables more fun!!

  1. Anything that makes learning times table fun has to be good. It’s not easy at first for kiddies to learn their tables, I’m sure my son would find this useful when he’s old enough.

  2. Anything which can make learning times tables fun is a plus in my book. I just remember repeating them over and over when I was a kid to try and learn them and it was so boring x

  3. This is great for kids as learning times tables can be a bit dull, so at least this game makes it so much more fun x
