Eliza is an avid reader and loves to create her own stories and poems. In fact her dream job when she leaves school is to be an author.
Sebastian on the other hand, is a reluctant reader and writer, although he does like making up stories.
We were invited to review 101 Story Starters for Kids, which come in editions aimed at both KS1 and KS2.
In the KS1 journal style book there is a picture for them to colour and space for them to create a story around the picture, with prompts and ideas to get them thinking, fire their imagination and fill them with enthusiasm!
The KS1 book has a dotted midline to help them position their writing correctly.
In the KS2 book, there are no pictures, just prompts to help them start their story.
They are perfect for this period where we are attempting to school our children at home and both Eliza and Sebastian have taken themselves off to work in their books independently.
As well as the 101 exciting prompts, there is guidance on how to use this book at the front and it has large wide ruled premium quality white paper, giving the kids plenty of space to write their stories.
The KS2 books also come in journals aimed at boys or girls too with subjects and text that will most interest them. Each book has an RRP of £7.99 and are available from Amazon.

Oh these look amazing! I am really struggling to get my y1 daughter to write – she really dislikes writing but these look fantastic, I will have to get the KS1 for her to try.
I think these are great idea, starting a story can often be challenging let alone for kids, but for them, they can have wild imaginations, so this is a good way of engaging that and letting them go.
