Sebby is in Year 2 at school and has started learning about money.
As part of his home learning this week, he was set some work to do involving money and it was the perfect time to bring out his Learning Resources Money Activity Set.
The set has been designed to encourage children to use real-world situations when learning about the value of money with this money-themed activity set.
In the box:
-
- 70 plastic UK coins
- 12 x play notes (£20, £10 and £5)
- 8 x double-sided price tags
- 12 double-sided money puzzle cards
- Wipe-clean piggy bank card
- Double-sided spinner
The set is perfect for developing coin value recognition and early financial skills for children aged 5 and over.
Sebby’s home learning involved identifying the different coins before then trying to find the least amount of coins to match the price on the card.
On the other side of the card is a picture of the correct answer, so the children can work alone if they want to.
Sebby’s favourite activity by far was doing the double-sided money puzzle cards which showed a picture of an item to buy and the price on one side of the puzzle which needs to be matched with a picture of notes and coins on the other side.
The next step of the activity for us is to use the money like a shop and begin to work out the correct change from given prices.
This set is great for helping the kids with their reasoning skills as well as adding and subtracting and is perfect for children in KS2 who are studying for their SATs to help them gain an understanding of money and how it works, which features in the testing.
The Money Activity Set has an RRP of £15 and is available from all good toy shops.
What a great learning resource, it can get confusing for children when learning about the value of money and this looks great for helping them
What a great tool for learning at home. They look like they wipe clean in case there are any spills too
This learning set looks great, especially the puzzle cards. My 5 year old has some plastic coins and notes that we use in her little wooden shop.
My son is about Sebby’s age and is also learning about the value of money at the moment. I am sure this Money Activity Set will help him understand the concept of spending money and getting change back easier
My son is also in Year 2 and has been learning about money! We ended up cutting up pieces of paper to represent notes. This set would’ve saved me a lot of effort! 🙂
Wow! My son would learn alot from this set. Thanks for the top tip!
This sounds great for learning about money – it’s such an important topics to teach kids and this looks like such a fun way to do it too.
I’m in the same year and learning about money too! This is great for homeschooling and getting used to seeing loose change and identifying it!
This looks great. I love how it is clearly fun but also educational too xx
This is a lovely way to reach kids budgeting and finances from a young age . I like the kit I am sure it had great play valve.
I do love the Learning Resources range. This set looks great for aiding children to learn about how to count money as well as budgeting.
