With both Hubby and I now working full time and Kian away at university, chances to get out and about as a couple are now few and far between.
We had been taking advantage of shared, child free days off to get out on our bikes and cycle along the Bournemouth Beach, but haven’t managed to do this since the summer.
Today, Hubby was day off and I had a half day, which meant we didn’t have time for a bike ride, but we did manage to get down to the beach to blow away some winter cobwebs, as it was such a beautiful day.
I much prefer visiting the beach in winter as it is so quiet. As a local, we rarely go near it in the summer as, being a popular UK holiday destination, it is packed to the rafters with holiday makers.
January is also a bit of a bleak month financially as not only did we both get paid in mid-December, but it is also Eliza’s birthday month. Thankfully, we have now both been paid so we treated ourselves to lunch at Aruba on Bournemouth Pier.
We almost had the place to ourselves and sat by the bright open windows, watching the surfers taking advantage of the small waves that were rolling in.
I enjoyed a pulled pork ciabatta sandwich whilst Hubby opted for a Texican Burger, which were both delicious.
We both looked longingly at a large ice cream sundae that was brought out to another table, but decided there was no way we could squeeze one in too, so headed back outside to enjoy the sunshine.
Sadly, the Bournemouth Wheel is closed until half term, so we didn’t get to take advantage of the beautiful views from the top, which was a shame as it was such a clear day that we could see the Isle of Wight clearly in the distance.
Instead we headed back to the car through Bournemouth Gardens in time to pick the kids up from school.
How do you try and spend quality time with your partner?
A winter stroll on the beach sounds so good right now, I don’t think I have ever done it myself. That burger looks amazing too. Perfect way to spend a child-free day π
what a lovely sunny day! Time together is so important. And down by the beach is the best
I much prefer beaches in the winter as I am not one for swimming in the sea anyway! Sounds like you had a lovely afternoon together! π
The sight of an empty beach is just <3 <3! We don't live close enough to the beach to just pop there, but I love when we do get the opportunity to have a beach day! x
We go out on lunch dates when we can. Quality time is very important.
Itβs sounds like having that short time together and sitting down and eating a lovely lunch is what you needed. We are like you and never really get time as a couple to do anything together anymore unless we travel down to the grandparents and they babysit
Sounds like a lovely day together. Hubby and I rarely get time together but we do occasionally fit in a lunch date when he’s not too busy. An advantage to him working from home.
I have never seen Bournemouth beach looking so empty. It is certainly a lovely place to go for a winter walk.
What a lovely bright beach day! Sounds like you had a good child-free day x
Look at those gorgeous blue skies! Sounds like you guys had a rather fabulous time. It’s important, for our relationships, to find that little bit of quality time every now and again.
Those are gorgeous pictures! I’m sure you had a lovely afternoon. The view from atop the Bournemouth Wheel could have been a bonus.
It’s important to find time for one another. It looks like you had a great beach afternoon.
Oh Bournemouth is just lovely. Looks like you had a great time.
You got a lovely clear day. So lucky to live close to the beach but I can see why you avoid during the tourist season
