We have had a fake Christmas Tree for as many years as I can remember but in 2013 that changed.
During our holiday to Coombe Mill we had our first “real’ Christmas tree and fell in love with its look and smell and we have had a real tree ever since.
In 2015, we discovered Pines and Needles who allowed us to order our tree online and have it delivered straight to the door which was very convenient.
This year, however, they have opened a store on Christchurch Road, Boscombe and I decided to head down to see what they have on offer.
With free parking to the rear the site, you can take as long as you like to select your perfect tree and get a mini “treetorial” at the same time advising you on the best way to look after your chosen tree.
I opted for a 6ft Nordmann Fir and the team helped me load it into the car. They also offer a delivery service, covering BH1, BH2, BH5, BH6, BH7, BH8, BH3, BH9, BH4 areas. Standard drop off only service is £15 OR a premium service where they also install the tree in its stand is £25.
The Nordmann fir has a glossy green colour and big needles which are lovely and soft, making it suitable for those with young children. It is however slightly more expensive than the Norway spruce, which has that classic rich, fresh Christmas fragrance and a very structured pyramid shape. We have bought some scenticles, which you hang on the tree, from Homebase to give it a real pine scent
Then to the job of decorating it. Sebby was off school poorly for a couple of days so was very enthusiastic about helping and Isaac and Eliza helped when they arrived home from school. I may have rearranged some of the decorations when they went to bed *ahem*.
The tree looks fabulous and it has some lovely new decorations this year that we brought home from Lapland to remind us of our magical break.
Have you put up your Christmas tree yet?

What a fantastic looking Christmas Tree. The decorations look great in your photos!
Oo this looks like such a lovely tree – so full and symmetrical! Our Christmas tree went up at the start of December, but we’re still putting decorations up around the house 🙂
I love the idea of a real tree but am still going strong with the pretend one. Thats a fab idea hanging scents from it to give the smell a boost and the lapland decorations too will be very special
What a lovely tree. I’ve always had a real tree, there’s nothing like them. Other than the constant hoovering of course, haha!
Katie xoxo

It is great that Pine and Needles provided you with your first real Christmas tree and it is absolutely stunning xx
What a beautiful tree. We were going to have a real one this year but then the children could not wait so we put our artificial one up.

What a stunning tree. I love all of your new decorations too, what lovely memories they must have!
We’ve heard great things about Pines and Needles and it looks fantastic. Maybe one year we’ll get a real tree. We’re heading to Coombe Mill this New Year and can’t wait x
Our Christmas tree went up at the beginning of December but I’m ashamed to admit that it’s fake. Your tree looks amazing!
