Ditch the umbrella with the People’s Poncho!

We have just got back from a very wet and muddy Camp Bestival, the first wet festival I have experienced and it was a huge learning curve.

The last four we have been to have been glorious, with only an early morning rain shower one year. This time we were checking the weather daily and it was clear that this time we would need to pack raincoats and wellies.

A couple of months ago I was sent the a waterproof poncho from The People’s Poncho to review, but never really got a chance to wear it, other than on a couple of school runs but this weekend it got a full road test and was an absolute godsend!!

The People's Poncho

The Poncho is made from 3 layers of hard-wearing and fully waterproof Japanese polyester, with 3 poppers either side of the poncho for a tapered fit and Hi-vis, fully reflective piping all round the poncho for visibility in poor conditions and a water-resistant zippered front pouch to store your phone and / or keys.

The poncho is made so one size fits all and on me, falls to the knee, meaning I was kept almost completely try apart from the small gap between my knee and my boots. Because it is loose fitting I could also keep my camera tucked underneath and protected from the elements and I was kept nice and cool in the warm and muggy temperature.

It also comes with a peaked hood ensuring both comfort and protection from wind and rain which meant I didn’t need an umbrella, even when supping a nice cold G&T with Jane from Practically Perfect Mums, plus when it stopped raining, it can be packed it away easily using the small compact waterproof bag. In fact, weighing just 380g, it takes up less room than even the kids coats so is perfect for packing light.

For cyclists there is also straps fitted on the inside to hook onto handlebars or over hands so legs are protected from rain if riding a bike.

I have to say, I felt very smug that I remained dry for the whole weekend whilst everyone else got soaked and I will certainly be investing in another for Hubby before our next festival. Now if they could start making kids versions, that would be fab!!

The People’s Poncho can be purchased at www.thepeoplesponcho.co.uk priced at £50 and available in yellow, navy, black and camouflage.

  1. It’s summer time now but this will definitely a big help for me when traveling. To be prepared when rain comes. I am glad you were able to use it already.
