Ssssshhhhhh I don’t want to jinx it but at the grand old age of 32 months Sebastian is finally consistently sleeping through the night!
Three weeks ago I posted saying we were starting the JOHNSON’S® 3-step Sleep Routine which is clinically proven to help baby fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer.
If I am honest it didn’t start too well as within days of starting, Sebastian came down with a nasty case of tonsilitis and was really poorly with it for a few days, however once we started when he was feeling better we began to see changes almost immediately.
Step One: The Bath!
Sebastian has had a nightly bath as part of his routine since he was a baby, but we switched our normal bubble bath for Johnson’s Bedtime Baby Bath and our normal body wash for Johnson’s Bedtime Body Wash which releases NATURALCALM® essences—a special blend of gentle and calming aromas. We also stopped him sharing a bath with Eliza as this used to get them both super excited before bed. Now bathtime is a lot calmer.
Step Two: Baby Massage!
Sebastian used to love baby massage as a baby, but now as a wriggly, boisterous toddler he isn’t so fond of it, choosing to run around the bedroom instead. Our alternative is to wrap him in a snuglly warm fluffy towel and make a game of it. First I have to find his legs to rub Johnson’s Bedtime Baby Lotion in to, the hide them again and repeat with his arms and finally his body.
Step Three: Quiet Time!
We were given the Book ‘Goodnight Sarah’ to read to Sebastian, but any book will do for a bedtime story and his current favourite is Stick Man. Once Sebby is relaxed and sleepy I can put him to bed in my usual way.
Both Hubby and I feel so refreshed now Sebastian is sleeping through the night, although it took a while for my body clock to re-adjust as I was so used to his wake-up calls. I am kicking myself that I didn’t try it before!
Sponsored blog post by the JOHNSON’S® brand. I have received payment incentive and samples but all opinions are my own. JOHNSON’S® clinically proven bedtime routine consists of bath, massage and quiet time, tested on babies 7 months+, 1 week+ use.
Yay for success! We have finally managed to get Syd to sleep at a decent hour – and now the clocks are going to change – aaaarrggghh!
Wahoo for cracking the nighttime routine. I use Johnsons bedtime bath on the girls and love it. I try and do massage with oil but not as much as I should be doing. X
You must feel like new people! It’s amazing what a good, consistent bedtime routine can do.
Oh it’s such a lovely feeling when they start to settle properly X
