We all look forward to the August bank holiday – it gives us a chance at the end of the summer to chill out for a couple of days, catch up with friends and maybe even get away for a short break and Think Money have challenged me to tell them about my ideal Bank Holiday Staycation.
Living by the coast in a spot that holidaymakers flock to in the summer makes me want to get as far away as possible. Our beautiful beach is crammed with people within an inch of its life and is no longer somewhere you can go to refresh and recharge so we love to explore pastures new and my dream location is Wales, well, one specific location in Wales.
If you follow the adventures on my blog you will know that the older members of the family love their adrenalin sports and we have ridden the Zip Lines at Adrenalin Quarry and Eden Project in Cornwall and the one on the end of Bournemouth Pier. Now it’s time to go one step further and visit Zip World, home of the longest zip line in Europe.
Nanny has already agreed to looking after the younger members of the family which leaves us free to head off to North Wales with the teens in tow to try the three Zip lines they have on offer:
- Titan; The first of its kind and the only 4 person zip line in Europe, where riders reach speeds up to 70mph over moor, mountain and mine.
- Velocity; “The Nearest Thing to Flying” – Home to the longest zip line in Europe and the fastest in the world where speeds of in excess of 100mph can be reached.
- Zip World Caverns; the worlds largest fully underground zip line course! Journey through an Indiana Jones-esque adventure environment that has been inaccessable for nearly 200 years.
It sounds amazing and is somewhere we have been desperate to try since it opened.
Once our adrenalin fuelled fun was complete we would then head back down to South Wales and the city of Cardiff where my Doctor Who and Torchwood loving family could visit the sites from the show and head to the Dr Who Experience where we can visit the unique, exciting and sometimes scary journey into over fifty years of adventures in space and time and I would love to take part in the Dr Who experience as well as the walking tour and a visit to the set of the TARDIS.
I am not sure how much time we would have left but the Millenium Centre and Cardiff Bay is another must visit, now how do you get into the Torchwood building again?
Not a quiet weekend, but one packed full of fun and adventure is perfect for us!
Where would your idea Bank Holiday Staycation be?
