I last redecorated the living room and bought new furniture for it 6 years ago and 3 babies later it is looking tired, worn and unwelcoming.
Earlier this year we made the decision to move the dining table into the lounge, leaving the extension on the back of the house free to make a large playroom for the kids to enjoy. It has been a breath of fresh air not having toys clutter up the lounge and as Sebastian is now almost 2, much of the large baby equipment and toys has now gone so it is time to reclaim our lounge.
At the moment we have a dove grey and aubergine theme which I do like, however, I long for a more modern look. We live fairly close to the coast and I would love a seaside theme of pale blue’s, beige and whites and I fear it may take a few coats of paint to cover the deep purple but the finished look will be well worth it and I may cheat and do a feature wall of wallpaper to hide it.
We have big double doors that lead from the living room into the dining / play room but they take up a lot of room as they open outwards. I would remove these doors and replace them with sliding doors so I could still shut the mess away at the end of the day. It would also give us more room for a dining table and a sideboard which we are sadly lacking at the moment.
Creating the new look living room look will mean getting rid of our old furniture which is starting to fray around the edges and the once comfortable plump cushions are squished beyond repair, so a new sofa is top of my wishlist. As we have lost our dining room, a corner sofa would be ideal to section off the new dining area in the lounge and I adore the blue Fable Corner Sofa from Furniture Village and as our swivel chair is a much loved feature of our lounge by all the kids and I would update ours with the matching Fable Swivel chair too.

Finally I would finish off the look with a coffee table and some driftwood art. My friends make the most fabulous photoframes from things they have found on the beach and there are some great turorials on Pinterest for the kids to make some artwork too.
