I have really noticed the nights getting darker this week and am now back to sitting in the car in the dark whilst waiting for the kids to finish their clubs or work.
Still haven’t got to see the Northern lights, athough they were apparently seen locally but at 3am.
I have binge watched Nobody Wants This on Netflix this week. I really enjoyed it but hope we don’t have to wait too long for series 2.
Here is our week:
Sunday 7th October
A work day for me, we still get a little bit of extra money for working Sunday’s, but gone are the days of double time. Now we get time + 10%, so when I actually worked it out it I am not much better off.
It was a busy day, but still managed to do a couple of raffle donations, as the requests are increasing as we get closer to Christmas.
Monday 8th October
Another day at work and another day of putting together donations. This time some pumpkins for a local preschool.
I tried to do a variety of size and shapes but all ours appear to be fairly uniform.
Tuesday 9th October
My husband went to Manchester for a Pets at Home charity meeting, but squeezed in a dentist visit first as he has an infection in one of his teeth.
My only photo from the day is his hotel room – not sure about the wall art.
Wednesday 9th October
My day off and I headed to Dorchester to see my Mum. I have been wanting to visit Hardy’s Monument for years, but never managed to get there, so with the weather on my side, I stopped there first.
Typically the clouds rolled in as I arrived and it wasn’t open to climb to the top, but there were still stunning views over Chisel Beach and Portland.
On the way back to Mum’s, I stopped at Puddletown to get a photo of the new Autumn themed postbox topper.
Thursday 10th October
One thing that frustrates me about our secondary school is that they don’t do school photos – never have, even in Yr11. Lilah has just started their sister school and Abbey got her school photo back today……….maybe it’s just a primary school thing?
Friday 11th October
Eliza and Sebby went to the local youth club, where they had an Indian night. They did a quiz, tried Indian food and even did some Henna tattoos.
In the meantime, Isaac went to an early Halloween party, having decided to go as Megan from Walking Dead a couple of hours before. Cue a mad dash for me around charity shops trying to find a red scarf, whilst he was at work.
Saturday 12th October
I booked the day off work to attend a gin making workshop with Jet2 holidays, who are celebrating arriving at Bournemouth Airport.
We started the day distilling our own gin, before enjoying a cocktail masterclass.
How was your week?
I wish we had a youth club near here. N’s trying to find Young Farmers, but the one that has a junior section is a 25 min journey and never answer about joining, and the one that’s nearer that he and his friends would rather go to, only has seniors. So they all go in together. But too much is oriented around pubs, and he’s too young at 13 to be socialising with up to 26 year olds (plus it clashes with football training).
That hotel room decor is a bit odd. Shame about the secondary photos. Ours do Y7, 9 and 11, although N was off sick for year 7, so I had to get this year’s photo instead, and he was 3 days off having a hair cut so it’s a bit wild.
Beautiful views from Hardy’s monument and I love the post box topper. Lovely photo of Lilah. The gin making workshop sounded like it was fun. #project365
I noticed the supermarket pumpkins were a bit bland this year and very thin inside so the carving didn’t last long. My DIL’s mother picked up a farm pumpkin for me to carve and it lasted much longer and was harder to cut through as it was so thick and bumpy. The gin workshop sounds a lot of fun. I looked into going to one, but they’re so pricey. The hotel wall art does look a little odd, a bit christmassy.
